- Hood, shoulders and cuffs are made from a three-layer laminated nylon fabric offering waterproof, breathable protection
- Lower body is a soft fabric laminate, offering comfortable four-way stretch and high mobility, breathability and waterproof protection
- All seams are sealed for weather-tight protection
- Storm hood has stretch side panels and cinches down for a close fit with unhindered peripheral vision
- Full-length front zipper is backed by a wind guard that rolls over zipper to protect chin from abrasion
- Articulated elbows, pattern shaping at upper back and no underarm seams allow full range of motion; jacket stays in place when arms are raised
- Features two mesh-lined hand pockets and a chest pocket; pockets can be opened for air circulation
- Front zipper, chest pocket and hand pockets are all welded (glued) and feature water-resistant zippers
- Elasticized cuff backs with molded cuffs tabs and VELCRO® brand closures, and a hem drawcord seal in the warmth

An earlier version of this jacket has lasted over ten years! Following the directions on the label, I've washed it several times and each time it came out shiny new again. The color never faded. The materials stayed strong and durable, no wearing or tearing eveident. I highly recommend REI jackets like this for their long-lasting durability.

This is a great deal; the pit zipper issue does not affect the performance of the jacket. I really like the way the hood fits and the material is great: soft, lightweight, and waterproof. A very nice shell for a really good price!

I bought this jacket to be used in Rainy Vancouver, because I walk my dog rain or shine. Not having the armpit vents really isn't a big deal to me at this price.
It turns out that I now wear this jacket almost everyday, because it works with everything from walking my dog in the rain, to hiking the North Shore mountains, to casual wear in the city. The fit is great.
My only complain is that the cinch cords inside the jacket irritate my neck. I wouldn't let that stop you from buying this great jacket, because this can be fixed.
