The REI Member Dividend
The REI dividend is a unique benefit of membership in the REI co-op. It's comprised of your member refund—typically 10% back on eligible purchases—and/or your REI Visa® card rebates.
Each March, active REI members and REI Visa cardholders who earned a rebate receive a refund in the form of an annual dividend notice.
Only active members receive annual dividend notices. To maintain your active status as an REI member, you need to make net merchandise or shipping purchases of at least $10 per year, unless you joined that year. Member numbers are issued in one name and only that person receives the member refund. Your number can be used by others in your family, but it cannot be transferred to someone else.

Comments about REI XR 10 x 25 Waterproof Binoculars:
I really like the pair I have. I got it about two years ago. After trying out all the REI brand binoculars in the store, I chose these because they hit the right balance of cost, size, and quality.
One deciding factor was that they seemed to have much better balance than the cheaper ones.
I was surprised to see the negative reviews. My pair seems to be quite sturdy. No complaints here.

Comments about REI XR 10 x 25 Waterproof Binoculars:
Come on REI! I've seen better binoculars at gas stations for half the price of these. To the customers, I advise you NOT to waste your money. These are the cheapest piece-of-junk binoculars I've ever come across. Honestly, they're only a step better than the TOY binoculars I used to get as a kid. If you don't believe me, then go check 'em out for yourself. I expect a lot more form REI than this. Those who produced these for REI should be ashamed, as should those at REI who approved their sale.

Comments about REI XR 10 x 25 Waterproof Binoculars:
bought these binos at the REI store in Nashville and went on a weeklong backpacking, hiking, fly fishing trip to the Great Smoky Mountains National Park and they were great.
It held up great, packed light all week and was durable for the trip.

Comments about REI XR 10 x 25 Waterproof Binoculars:
I bought these binoculars for a cruise in Alaska and initially thought they were a bargain. Nice feel, waterproof and rubberized, good optics, eye cups, etc. Case was a little snug and focusing wheel also a little snug, but generally I liked them.
Unfortunately, the cruise hasn't taken place yet and I am already sending these binoculars back. I was testing them out at home one day and when I pulled off the lens cover on one of the eye cups and the cup came off with the lense cover, leaving just bare metal. It looks like it was glued on and the glue was basically dried out and useless for metal. I started looking at these more and they are made in China as oppose to some of the better binoculars that are made in Japan, Europe. Given these have had very little use and zero rough use, I cannot recommend them.
