If you do a lot of dumpin' in the woods this is your shovel! I's super strudy, is collapsible, and stores stuff in the handle. You'll be the envy of your fellow poopers.

This stupid thing broke while I was about to explode! It is very lightweight, is the only pro I can think of. If you aren't into quality, then I would recommend you would get at least two so when one breaks you will have a back up.

Comments about Sea To Summit iPOOd! Trowel:
A bit pricey at [$]but worth it if weight and functionality are an issue. Not sure how that other poster busted his as we used this to dig a cat hole in clay soil that was full of tree roots. No problems. Can't speak to the in-handle storage as I haven't used it.

Comments about Sea To Summit iPOOd! Trowel:
I think this was a novel name for a little trowel. I thought it was hilarious in fact. I think that it might work well for work (I work outside) or for areas where you know where there will be soft ground. However, I had some difficulty cutting roots to dig a cat hole, and it might not handle rocks so well. Basically, it seems that it would take a lot of effort to dig a hole in a lot of situations. It might work well though for someone who is worried about weight and utility. I also had a lot of trouble getting the storage in the handle to open.

Comments about Sea To Summit iPOOd! Trowel:
I am so glad I lost my tiny little handiscoop! The Sea to Summit trowel, while admittedly expensive and a bit on the large and heavy side, digs an actual regulation depth cat hole in record time. It's sturdy and the blade digs right in and you're back on the trail in no time. Just don't plan on using the little handle pocket.

Comments about Sea To Summit iPOOd! Trowel:
I bought this for a backpacking trip in the rockies. We had no issues with it digging holes or breaking. I really like the lightweight aspect. The storage in the handle is nice for backup toilet paper but is hard to get into and doesn't hold much. The lock button is effective...never had the handle slide back in though I've had trouble getting it to release most times. Overall it does what it needs to and hasn't broke..Is it worth the high price for a trowel? You decide.

Comments about Sea To Summit iPOOd! Trowel:
I've backpacked for decades, and have always used the plastic shovels (broke one) and have often had to be content with a hole less than 6" deep because of lack of confidence in the shovel.
Having a 3 week backpacking trip planned (JMT) I decided it was worth the investment to buy this, and boy was I right. Had to dig in some hard, rocky soil that would have broken the plastic shovels. The ipood handled it all with ease. If you backpack with any regularity do yourself a favor and invest in this product.

Comments about Sea To Summit iPOOd! Trowel:
This gets my just ok rating. It digs a hole ok and it is lightweigh. It is more durable than the plastic option and it is lightweight. However, it is expensive. Also, I had a difficult operating the locking pushbutton (which is not good if you are in a hurry). Also, the pocket container inside barely holds anything- I put some TP in there as a backup, but not to rely on.

Comments about Sea To Summit iPOOd! Trowel:
In sandy conditions, the sliding handle jams easily, at the worst possible time! The sliding action easily scratches the anodizing The locking pushbutton is also difficult to use, and has caused many thumb "pinches". Bottom line - I returned it after one trip, and will get another trowel.

Comments about Sea To Summit iPOOd! Trowel:
I admit I bought this because of the clever name. It actually works ok, at least as good (if not better) than the orange plastic ones. But the extra cost probably isn't worth the novelty value.
