      Salomon is the savior for the wider feet. After purchasing Alpina's in a half size larger my boy had to use my Salomons due to his foot pain. I knew Salomons would fit me due to experience with Hiking boots. You need to add a decent insole if you have medium or high arches like mine.

        I've used these both on groomed and ungroomed trails, and on city streets during the Seattle snowstorms of '08. A fine boot, definitely warm. No problems whatsoever.

            While the Escape 7 initially seemed like a good design in the store, I found them uncomfortable with extended distance and returned them after a couple uses. Similar to another reviewer, I found that these boots cut across the toes, making for uncomfortable wear. Unfortunately, one of the uses was a 15k race, and I found these boots a negative on the day.

              I have wide (4E) feet and bunions and thus more than a bit concerned when mail ordering ski boots without trying them on (none nearby to test fit). I ordered half size larger than normal and must say the boots are a delight, both in fit and in ski performance in conjunction with the SNS pilot bindings. They are replacing some 15 yr old Salomon boots/bindings and there is quantum improvement in both comfort and ski control. I've had them for a week and have been out skiing nearly every day.The current sale price [$] makes it a VERY satisfying purchase.

                    I was an expert Alpine skier for 40 years and decided to give it up after lift tickets got too expensive and snow boarders took over the slopes. I decided to take up Nordic skiing and relied on the staff at REI to set me up with a good beginner's package. I've only been out a few days, but so far, it's working out very well. Thanks REI!
