Comments about Nite Ize Figure 9 Rope Tighteners - Package of 2:
I have a handful of these that I keep just in case of an emergency tie-out job, securing a tarp, practically anything. I've used these to secure a load in a truck bed, hang a temporary clothesline for my wife (I used 3 of them at that time, and my wife exclamed: "What IS that spiderweb you've built?"), on guy lines for a tent, even to secure a tarp around my swamp cooler. The uses are endless.
They're small and sturdy. Basic instructions are laser-etched right on it, but if you're like me you'll also find your own ways of tying them. The larger size is great for larger-width lines, even rope, and the smaller size can accommodate any small line, including that extremely thin guyline sold by Kelty (the reflective line).
The only con I can think of is the teeth. These units are stamped out, so one edge of the teeth may have small burrs that can tear up a line pretty good if you retension it more than once. My solution was to file down the burrs using a dremel and cut-off wheel.. Since then, I've had no problems. This doesn't happen with all Figure 9's - I've got quite a few that are perfectly fine out of the package.
You can't go wrong buying these. Buy a bunch, they'll never bend, never break, and last you years.
