Comments about Keen Blackcomb Mid Winter Boots - Women's:
Have to say Keens are pretty much the only outdoor activity shoe I buy because of the high arch support, toe wiggle room, and no break in period. Buuuut living in Alaska we have periods like this week of super slick ice. The only place my new boots failed was on ice. I had to go home and get my strap on cleats to even stand much less walk the granddog at the dog park in Anchorage. So I do not reccomend buying these for walking on ice. Otherwise I am going to order a second pair while they are on sale. Also had to buy 1/2 size larger; must be the heavier padding.

Comments about Keen Blackcomb Mid Winter Boots - Women's:
I have been looking for a good winter boot for a few years now. I have a wide foot, and didn't want anything frilly - I wanted a serious hiking boot with great insulation for snowshoeing, wearing in the snow, and hiking/wearing when it's cold out. I ordered this boot because it was an actual women's winter hiking boot with full adjustments, meant for actual hiking (not high fashion). Oh, and Keens are known to be great for wide feet - a plus. This boot isn't all that wide, the back of the ankle area is uncomfortable when I walk, and most importantly - eventhough it says it's good to -25F, my feet have gotten cold when it's been above freezing out! That's a full 60 degrees above where it should be working - what the heck?!? I read the other reviews before ordering the boot and everyone said it might be too warm - maybe they're wearing it inside? As far as I'm concerned, this is an awful winter boot, no better at insulating my feet than my regular hiking boots. I will be returning these immediately and looking for another "real" women's winter boot, or maybe a men's boot since the women's all seem like they're meant to be cute, not functional for hiking and snowshoeing.

Comments about Keen Blackcomb Mid Winter Boots - Women's:
Over the past 4 years my husband has put up with listening to me complain about wet, frozen feet when we did winter hiking and snow shoeing. I have terrible circulation and the smallest thing will turn my toes to tingly ice, not to mention my narrow heels which are blister prone.
This year my husband decided I wasn't going to be miserable and told me he wanted to find me a good winter hiking boot for my Birthday. I didn't have high expectations as it seems most manufacturers don't make heavy duty winter footwear for women. The gal who helped me at the store recommended I try these boots after I tried on a few different pairs that were more snow/ leisure oriented and bingo! I was in 7th heaven! These are the best hiking boots I have ever owned. The were comfortable right out of the box, kept my feet dry and to top it all off for the first time EVER I haven't gotten blisters even after hiking almost 10 miles in them last weekend. We have a goal of hiking over 300 miles this summer mainly in the Colorado Mountains and you better believe I will be buying a Regular Keen hiker next. These are fabulous boots!

Comments about Keen Blackcomb Mid Winter Boots - Women's:
I bought these boots for snowshoing. They work great for my snowshoes, warm while walking or moving but once you are stopped they get cold real fast. I wouldn't rate them -25 and I discovered that they are not good for a winter camping boot. They are light and stylish but all depending on what you want them for I don't recommend them for a "stand around the fire" boot. They stay dry for the most part until you start to sweat and then put them up for the night. They freeze hard when wet and don't dry, I came home with wet socks. If you are out for a day adventure I would recommend them but not a camping boot.

Comments about Keen Blackcomb Mid Winter Boots - Women's:
I only use the boots for hiking/snowshoeing. I found them to be very comfortable with no break-in period. I will note, they are only comfortable hiking in the snow and the traction is not very good without snow. Right from the start, they were not waterproof. They were saturated by the end of every hike. Also, my feet get cold easily so they were not warm enough in these boots without toewarmers. Once the toewarmers were in, my feet never got cold regardless of the temperature. I had about ten 10-15 mile dayhikes on them before they failed. The leather behind hook where you tighten the shoelaces ripped off the boot. Despite some of my negative comments, I do like these boots and am going to give them another chance.

Comments about Keen Blackcomb Mid Winter Boots - Women's:
I love these boots. They're really comfortable, warm, and water repellant. There was no break-in period; they felt great from the first day. I don't lace the top hooks because it feels a little constricting, but the high profile still provides good ankle support even if not laced all the way up. They don't have a perfect place to attach the gaiter hook on top of the toes; there's a little strap under the first crossing of the laces that might be meant for this but it's a little too high up the lacing for my taste. I hook the gaiter on one side or the other of the starting lace loop, and that works OK. As others have commented, they can become too warm when worn indoors, but I don't see this as a disadvantage, just proof what a warm winter boot they are. I give them five stars as an excellent winter hiking boot.

Comments about Keen Blackcomb Mid Winter Boots - Women's:
I've been suffering with big clunky Sorels for years, like waring 5 pound clown shoes on your feet all day. These are so light, comfortable, and warm (almost a little too warm). I can actually walk up and down stairs without tripping over them. Amazing. A winter boot with the comfort and flexibility of my Lowa hiking boots. A great winter boot. I agree with others, I had to order a half size larger to fit.

I work in a daycare and have to go outside with the kids everyday, even when it snows. These boots always keep my feet warm and dry. My feet sometimes do get a litte too warm, but that is preferable over freezing. I also love them for snowshoeing. I have never had cold feet or any discomfort, unlike some of my friends who have less flexible shoes or shoes not as waterproof. Used them last year to snowshoe through snow up to my waist in below freezing conditions and never had any issues. Love these boots!

Comments about Keen Blackcomb Mid Winter Boots - Women's:
I got these boots last year and I have pulled them out again for this winter season. They're a good boot-- the only boots that I've ever bought that actually keep my feet and toes warm. The downside is that it can get a little too warm. I was told that I would be able to wear them all day (both inside and out) without a problem, but on occassion I have to take them off because of they get too toasty. Otherwise, an excellent boot.
