Comments about REI One Jacket - Men's:
I have an REI One Jacket from about 4 years ago. Ah...the good ole days. My jacket fits great and has performed well for the last four years in a number of different pursuits. It stetches for fit, is mostly windproof, but still breathable, and looks good. It is not the warmest jacket if you're just sitting around, but if your active it will do in all but the most extreme weather. Alas, REI, seemingly other companies as well, has succumbed to the size inflation game. Perhaps it is the expanding waistline of America that is fueling this, or maybe it is the tendency of a larger waistline of the newer core demographic as REI spreads out to a larger audience. I looked recently replace my One with a new one from REI. The new One is huge! A medium no longer fits my 5'9", 155 lb., frame. The sleeves are too long, the chest is baggy, and it is just frumpy, for lack of a better term. Moving to a small would seem to rectify this, but the small is, well, too small. My medium from 4 years ago fit great. What happened from then until now? I see this in all REI gear though. I have an older stretch piece in a large, admittedly a tad too big, but still usable. Now the same piece from REI in a MEDIUM is too large; I wear a small. This new One also lacks a neck closure, so unless your neck fits exactly, you will be losing cold from the top, and heat rises. Arc'teryx also suffers from a lack of a neck closure, they say so you don't hang yourself if you fall climbing...sounds strange to me. If the One fits, you will be getting a great soft shell, Powershield (the best soft shell material) jacket; however, that is a big if...

I have taken this jacket everywhere. It is quite windproof and surprisingly warm considering that it is not that thick. Outside is a sorta neopreneish material that is rain "resistant" not proof, but great for light rain on hikes or walks around town. Its roomy enough also to put some layers on underneath, so works really well as a shell on extra cold days. My only beef with it is that I wish it had some more different colored panels to kinda jazz up the look a bit, otherwise, awesome jacket.

Great jacket, very windproof as tag described. Warm, yet lightweight and can be worn on a night out or around a campfire. Jacket is water repellent in light rain to keep you dry, high neck w/ zipper protection for your chin to keep your the heat in. Jacket also had armpit vents to keep you cool when active. I wear this jacket almost everyday, durable and comfortable.

I've taken this jacket on the Inca Trail (this and a shell was my cold weather outerwear) and I've taken this jacket to a casual dinner in Paris - its THAT versatile. I've owned it two years and it still looks new. It's the first jacket I pack when I go almost anywhere. I bought one for my girlfriend and her mother - they get nothing but compliments on them.

Great jacket that works for everything. Can use it hiking, trudging through the rain, or even while going into work with a suit on. Matches everything, does the job.

This is a great looking and feeling jacket. It is light and breathable with a decent warmth factor. The surprising thing is the number of compliments that I get on how good it looks. I have had it for three years and wear it about 5 months a year and it still looks brand new. Buy this jacket!

I purchased this jacket a few years back and I still haven't found a reason to replace it with a different jacket. I live in the Pacific Northwest where our winter temperatures rarely dip below the high 20's and our fall/spring temperatures never get above the mid 50's and it's always raining; this jacket handles it all.I've washed it 5-6 times in the two years since I purchased it with a soft-shell cleaner and then another cycle in the washing machine with a soft-shell treatment chemical [$].This jacket is perfect; the soft-shell exterior and fleece interior provide the perfect combination for complete comfort while not sacrificing mobility, looks, warmth or weather protection. I own the black jacket and it transitions from the outdoors to a clean-up jacket with ease. Bravo REI on this one, I highly recommend it.

This is a great travel, biking, and hiking jacket. It could be a touch longer in the torso. Probably what would make this a 5-star product would be the addition of pit-zips.
