Comments about Marmot PreCip Rain Jacket - Men's Tall:

I've had a 'regular' Precip for years and love it! It has only sustained a minor tear from a fall on a full-moon cold night when I hit some black ice on granite. That was two years ago and the tear is no larger now than it was then. I've stuffed this jacket and carried it in my pack, sat on it when the ground was wet, used it as a wind shell and a rain jacket and it's great. The venting allows for comfort and it has never leaked, a great value! When I saw that REI had it in a tall (I'm 6'4", 37" sleeves) I was ecstatic. The regular was okay but the extra sleeve and body length of the tall is wonderful! I hope other manufacturers catch on to the fact that there are some tall folk enjoying the out of doors. Now if pant manufacturers would realize that legs do get longer than 34" we'd be seeing progress!

Comments about Marmot PreCip Rain Jacket - Men's Tall:

I have had this jacket for three years now and I have to say...it has not performed well. The fit is good. The pit zips work well and the jacket moves with you well. When I bought it it was perfectly waterproof and I took it through all types of weather with out a hitch. After about a year I noticed some wetness penetration and I thought maybe I has sweatted alot. Now I really cannot wear it out if I am going to be in the rain for any prolonged period of time. It's fine for around town running errands (in and out of a car). But for a walk with in the rain over 10 minutes I'm getting wet. I now need to look for a new rain shell and I will not be buying another Marmot.

Comments about Marmot PreCip Rain Jacket - Men's Tall:

I usually used this in a pack for the "just-in-case" situation. Guess what... I needed it one day on a hike and much to my surprise this thing kept me dry for the first 20 minutes then the following hour I was soaked through to the bone all the way back to camp. I always pack my electronics in a zip loc but the map had to be dried out in the tent. Too bad,I thought Marmot had really good products but this wasn't one of them.

Comments about Marmot PreCip Rain Jacket - Men's Tall:

I've had the exact same experience with this jacket as a couple others. This jacket performed well when it was new. Then, it failed at keeping water out after about a year (and that's with minimal wear in sunny SoCal.). I've followed the directions on the tag to restore the DWR but it is no longer performing. After 20 minutes in light constant rain, it was no longer dry on the inside. I'll be trying out the Arc'Teryx Beta with GoreTex next. Seems to be doing well according to reviewers.

I Have used this jacket fromjust needing a very light shell to through over a ling sleeve shirt and go longboarding to using it during long thunderstorms on long backpacking trips. I most recently used to in Oregon at At Multnomah Falls and if i had not had this jacket on I would have been wet to the bone, Including my camera, Phone and gps.

Comments about Marmot PreCip Rain Jacket - Men's Tall:

I used this jacket on five separate occasions. After the first use, the drawstring around the waist came undone from the inside stitching.

I was impressed enough with the performance though, that I just removed the drawstring all together. After all, my wife's Marmot Skyline didn't have a waist drawstring, so I figured I could get along fine without it. And I probably still could, except that both pant leg drawstrings have now come un-stitched from my PreCip pants.

I can't handle that and I'm returning both pants and the jacket. Too bad...they performed well.

Comments about Marmot PreCip Rain Jacket - Men's Tall:

I took this jacket with me for ten days of backpacking in Philmont New Mexico. I stayed dry durning the small afternoon showers, but when it poured for hours I found that this jacket is not very waterproof. I would not recommend using this jacket durning extreme rain storms. Other than that I think that Marmot did itself proud on this rain coat.
