This Trilithium 3-in-1 jacket from The North Face features an insulating liner jacket for removable warmth in changing conditions.

Wear the shell jacket and snap-in liner jacket together for maximum protection, or wear either piece alone as conditions warrant
Fully seam-taped nylon shell jacket uses HyVent™ two-layer coating for waterproof, breathable protection
Polyester slick mesh lining wicks away moisture and blocks snow; embossed nylon taffeta in sleeves eases layering

The first time I wore this jacket I KNEW that going with The North Face for a jacket of this type was the right move. It was 38 degrees with a 35 mph steady north wind. I never felt the wind on my upper body and I was warm. I actually had to unzip a bit to let the heat out. I'm more than satisfied with ALL of The North Face gear I own. My REI down jacket easily fits underneath (minus the liner) and does not feel bulky or confining. North Face quality is most excellent. I am life long fan. I thoroughly recommend this jacket to others. I can't see how one could possibly be disappointed.
