Comments about Java Juice Pure Coffee Extract - Single Serving:
I was so excited when I saw these. I got them home and tried it twice just to make sure. But to no avail. It really seemed to lack decent flavor. No better then using something like Folgers Single Serving bags. I might consider these just for the convenience, no wet grounds to pack out and no extra equipment to carry. But surely not because they tasted all that great, 'cause they didn't.

I suppose if you are a hard core coffee snob this stuff tastes like poo, but for me it is just fine.
My guess is that the "flavored" versions are pretty nasty - the straight coffee tastes like regular coffee, a bit of a French Roast. Quick and easy, little mess, a bit pricey, but what the heck - it's back packing folks!!!

Comments about Java Juice Pure Coffee Extract - Single Serving:
I like roughing it as I am a minimalist. But this product is stretching it. I had some with my girlfriend hiking out in the Catskills this past weekend and since she suffers from migraines, she depends on her coffee/caffeine fix to help stave off her migraines. We used the French Vanilla variant as she is a fan of the flavor, but she couldn't even finish a complete serving of this stuff. I had a sip or two from her cup and it was absolutely bitter and tasteless. I have actually worked in the flavor chemistry industry and I believe a junior chemist could have produced a better tasting extract. Please, if you value the taste of coffee in the morning, I would suggest a powdered instant mix over this. It's truly not worth having. You could just as easily store the powdered stuff and probably be cheaper per serving!

Like I said, it's not for everyone. But it gets the job done, its quick, light(beats bringing extra gear) and it taste's okay!

I've used instant coffee, coffee "tea" bags, Senseo pods and Java Juice. Definitely prefer the Java Juice. All I can figure from the other reviews is that they're people who aren't happy unless they have Starbucks strength coffee. We use a regular drip coffee maker at home and the Java Juice was equal to that, and that's just fine with me.

I thought this was going to be the coolest thing since sliced bread. A wonderful idea with a horrible taste. I can gut some pretty bad grind but this was too much to handle more than once.

Original version gets a "5". The flavored versions (Hazelnut, Vanilla and especially Decaff--Yuck!) get a 0-1 on this scale.

"it's the best back-country cup of coffee you'll ever drink" is what the cashier said... Apparently this person has no taste buds. If you like coffee, YOU WILL HATE THIS PRODUCT... absolutely disgusting, watered down non-sense... Instant coffee bags from the supermarket will body slam this in a challenge match any day. A+ for the idea, F- for the execution.

No more measuring freeze dried coffee by days in the field. No more clumped up coffee that got a bit wet, or from storing in a humid environment. Just take the exact number of packets for your trip. Boil water, tear packet open, and stir.
You can adjust the strength of your coffee based on the amount of water you boil, and this stuff is as good a brewed.
Only dowside, is you have to pack out the used packets, and I suggest storing in a zipper bag since the extract will stain anything it comes in contact with.

Comments about Java Juice Pure Coffee Extract - Single Serving:
I have learned with coffee, getting other people's recommendations is a waste of time. Some people are simply snobs; others go to the other extreme. My main recommendation with this product is to try ONE cup AT HOME! Don't take a stack of these into the wilderness for two weeks! I found it better than freeze dried, but far more expensive. I thought it was roughly on par with coffee bags. I've gone a different route with my backpacking coffee but that doesn't mean I think you will!
