    The REI Member Dividend

The REI dividend is a unique benefit of membership in the REI co-op. It's comprised of your member refund—typically 10% back on eligible purchases—and/or your REI Visa® card rebates.

Each March, active REI members and REI Visa cardholders who earned a rebate receive a refund in the form of an annual dividend notice.

Only active members receive annual dividend notices. To maintain your active status as an REI member, you need to make net merchandise or shipping purchases of at least $10 per year, unless you joined that year. Member numbers are issued in one name and only that person receives the member refund. Your number can be used by others in your family, but it cannot be transferred to someone else.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Save Your Money I can't tell any difference at all between days I've taken these pills before and during a big hike and days when I haven't. Since it's impossible to do exactly the same hike on the same day twice, once with and once without, my one-person trial isn't scientifically conclusive but I suggest saving your money for a cold one after your hike.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Skeptical at 1st Thought this product was just hype, after keeping up with the big boys with much less effort then past rides, I'm a believer! I have a history of leg cramping around the 50-60 mile point, I was happy to have strong/cramp free legs. This stuff really works, No cramping and strong legs, don't ride without it now. Fantastic product!

Rated 4 out of 5 by from a subtle but noticeable improvement when you get a little older and put mileage and damage on your carcass, the limiting factor in fitness is usually the ability to recover. after reading reviews on, I tried sportleggs and halfway through the bottle what the makers claim and what I've read in the reviews appears to be true. not now being the dedicated road rider I was in the past, I've got recovery-related leg heaviness and fatigue for 10 to 30 minutes at the start of every ride, even if i stretch or embrocate. so the absence of a usual state of fatigue is really noticeable, and that's been the case every ride since I began using the product. and the other benefit is improved effort during the ride; not setting any records, but it looks like the product supplies burnable fuel to the legs like the makers state; the science being if your body's working more efficiently, you're generating less lactic acid or waste product and you'll generate more power and recover faster. a friend of mine (he's in better shape) tried sportleggs after I told him about it, and he seconded my opinion that it helps. i'd think if you were anything from someone who wanted to be fit to a competitive athlete, there would be a benefit to taking this product.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Help for runners I found this product in Chicago Athlete. Based on recommendations from nutritionists and sports trainers, I needed to supplement my magnesium intake for long distance runs to prevent muscle cramps. It's hard to tell whether or not this worked, but I haven't had any adverse reactions from taking the product over the course of a few months during my marathon training.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from This stuff helps I've been using this a few years and started by using it only before long training rides and centuries. And then I finally got smart and when prepping my bottles for long rides (50+ miles) I break two of them open and mix it with my sports drink in each bottle, that way I can get it during the ride and I can maintain pace with more comfort longer. Also, take before and after for recovery.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from works for me I've had issues in the past with lactic acid and the cramping associated with it, exp. when riding hard. I don't know if this happens to others, but, it's happened to me. I used this after talking with a few friends and reading some of the reviews, not only for bikers but runners as well. Seemed like it would help me out when I rode. After riding some tough climbs on my MTB here in the Bay Area, it definitely helped me in the process. I take a few before I ride and also shortly after I finish. I've also taken it throughout a ride whenever I felt my legs were "running out of gas"... It's helped me out on more than one occasion to give me that extra "oomph" that I needed to get back to the trailhead. After riding, it helped alleviate some of the normal muscle soreness that occurs. Mind you, it's not a "fix-all", it's enough to get you through a strenuous activity and help you recover more quickly less some of the soreness. It works for me and some of my friends and I always carry it with me when I ride. I recommend it to all of my friends that participate in any kind of physical activity.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Save Your Money #2 This is a follow-up to my earlier review of this product where I said it had no discernible effect. I should have said more about myself so others can judge the relevance of my evaluation for themselves. I am a serious dayhiker going out probably 47-50 times a year. My most common hike is 4.6 miles w/3,900' elevation gain. I do this maybe 20-25 times a year. In other words, I know what this hike should feel like during and afterwards, and how long it takes me. It is on the basis of comparing this hike with and without Sportslegs that I said I couldn't tell any difference. BUT, I am 76 years old. It is very possible that my body can't metabolize the elements in Sportslegs the way a younger person's could. That might explain the difference between my low evaluation and others' high ones. So, if you're younger than me you might want to try it yourself. But I suggest buying a few small packets instead of the bottle until you know.
