Comments about Sportlegs Supplement - 120 Capsules:
I've had issues in the past with lactic acid and the cramping associated with it, exp. when riding hard. I don't know if this happens to others, but, it's happened to me.
I used this after talking with a few friends and reading some of the reviews, not only for bikers but runners as well. Seemed like it would help me out when I rode.
After riding some tough climbs on my MTB here in the Bay Area, it definitely helped me in the process. I take a few before I ride and also shortly after I finish. I've also taken it throughout a ride whenever I felt my legs were "running out of gas"... It's helped me out on more than one occasion to give me that extra "oomph" that I needed to get back to the trailhead.
After riding, it helped alleviate some of the normal muscle soreness that occurs. Mind you, it's not a "fix-all", it's enough to get you through a strenuous activity and help you recover more quickly less some of the soreness.
It works for me and some of my friends and I always carry it with me when I ride. I recommend it to all of my friends that participate in any kind of physical activity.

I've been using this a few years and started by using it only before long training rides and centuries. And then I finally got smart and when prepping my bottles for long rides (50+ miles) I break two of them open and mix it with my sports drink in each bottle, that way I can get it during the ride and I can maintain pace with more comfort longer. Also, take before and after for recovery.

I should have listened to my marathon and tri friends sooner!
Given I'll do 20-30 mile day-hikes in rough terrain, or long multi-day backpacks, I figured I should give them a try. They work.
Others have mentioned the potential side-effects.
I weigh 130 pounds and use 3 capsules every 3 hours and on steep stuff, I might increase the frequency to 2 or 2.5 hours, based on feeling the "burn" return.
Dial in the dosage that works for you.

Comments about Sportlegs Supplement - 120 Capsules:
A friend recommended sports legs for the STP and wow, so glad she did. No cramps and wasn't sore at all after the ride. I have a history of cramping out after extended exercise no matter how many electrolyte drinks, v8s or cubes I ingest. This stuff worked great for me - now I use it before tough weight workouts, too, and no soreness and tightness there either.

Comments about Sportlegs Supplement - 120 Capsules:
I'm not really sure why they market Sportlegs primarily to only cyclists and skiers. I use this product for hiking and the results are noticeable. I can hiker longer and with less fatigue. The first couple times I used it, I only took an initial dose, an hour before exercise, as they recommend. I wasn't really sure if the product was effective at that point. Then, on some longer hikes, I followed their recommendation to redose every couple of hours. That was when I really noticed a difference. I'm not a huge fan of supplements, but this is one that works and I'll continue to use.

It is not that often that I've found a product that does exactly what it says it will and this is one.

I have a friend who volunteered at a mtb race last summer, and they passed out sportslegs at the halfway point at his sag stop. he was inspired ot order some for us when guys came up to him afterwards and wanted to know what he gave them because it made a huge difference. I have since used these on a 15 mile run and a couple of 100k bike rides and they really helped.

Comments about Sportlegs Supplement - 120 Capsules:
These were featured in Bicycling Magazine this month as one of the top nutrition items every cyclist should have. I would go one step further and say that any athlete - cyclist, runner or triathlete - should have a bottle of these at all time. They make a huge difference in training and/or longer casual rides.
Err on the side of a lower dosage to begin with - I did not need the recommended 1 per 50 pounds (1 per 100 pounds for me) nor did I need them every hour during activity (every 1.5-2 hours for me).
These can be taken in conjunction with other nutrition products - Endurolytes, gels or drinks don't seem to hinder the affect of these...just test your combination first.
As other reviewers have noted, the only side affect for these can be diarrhea.

Comments about Sportlegs Supplement - 120 Capsules:
I use Sportlegs before a long day of skiing, hiking, or cycling. I have yet to try using it afterward.
Things that are great:
Sportslegs works. The quad burn I'd normally experience during a double black bump run is greatly reduced. Also, for what you get, the price is quite reasonable.
Things that aren't so great:
Beware of the recommended dosage if you take multivitamins or have a sensitive digestive system. I suggest taking one capsule for every 100 lbs of body weight instead of every 50 lbs before your activity. From there, you can build up to a higher amount if necessary.
(The unfortunate result for over doing it is diarrhea.)
