The REI Member Dividend
The REI dividend is a unique benefit of membership in the REI co-op. It's comprised of your member refund—typically 10% back on eligible purchases—and/or your REI Visa® card rebates.
Each March, active REI members and REI Visa cardholders who earned a rebate receive a refund in the form of an annual dividend notice.
Only active members receive annual dividend notices. To maintain your active status as an REI member, you need to make net merchandise or shipping purchases of at least $10 per year, unless you joined that year. Member numbers are issued in one name and only that person receives the member refund. Your number can be used by others in your family, but it cannot be transferred to someone else.

Comments about Yakima HullyRollers Boat Mounts - Pair:
I'm really pleased. I mounted these on the rear crossbar with the Mako Saddles on the front and the 65lb boat is incredibly easy to get on and off the roof of the truck, and I'm a small guy.
For those who have had a problem with the mounts rotating on the round bars I found a simple solution. I cut a strip of thin foam rubber and placed it between the mount and the crossbar. I used 3M weatherstripping for behind a home wall switch plate, but anything compressible that adds a touch of thickness and increases friction will do. Voila! No rotation at all.

Comments about Yakima HullyRollers Boat Mounts - Pair:
I wouldn't recommend this product for fiberglass hulls because the contact points on the hull are too small and flexes it too much when the cam straps are tightened. Fiberglass only flexes so much for so long before it starts cracking. The Land Shark and Mako designs do a much better of securing the boat without identing the hull. Also, with a complex chine hull, they are very unstable. I found this out the hard way when I was taking a a boat off the car and the roller spun the boat off sideways on to concrete knocking the gel coat off it and necessitating a costly repair.

Comments about Yakima HullyRollers Boat Mounts - Pair:
I use a pair of HullyRollers in conjunction with a pair of Yamika Mako Saddles, all mounted on round Yakima bars. The rollers are easy to install, and they are stable when transporting my kayak. The rubber surface grips the boat. I have watched my kayak at 70 mph highway speeds, it doesn't move around at all.
The problem with these rollers is that they are not stable on round bars when loading a kayak. Sometimes one or both rollers 'spin' on the bar until the front roller touches the car roof, no matter how tight I fasten them. Then I have to unload the boat, adjust the roller(s) and start over. This doesn't happen all the time, but often enough that it is irritating.
Even with that shortcoming, I like these rollers. The rollers in back, in conjunction with the saddles in front, make it fairly easy for me to load and unload a heavy (65 lb) boat by myself.
(I'll submit a separate review on the Mako Saddles.)

Comments about Yakima HullyRollers Boat Mounts - Pair:
These look like a great product and appear to be solidly constructed but after installing them their shortcomings were quickly apparent.
Installing these on round crossbars made the mounts pretty much useless. Regardless of how firmly I attached the mounts they would spin on the bar and hit the top of the roof. Also the wheels would grab at the kayak rather than allow it to glide over the wheels as intended.
I'm guessing that if these were installed on a square bar they would be a fantastic product...but on a round bar, forget it these are useless.

Comments about Yakima HullyRollers Boat Mounts - Pair:
I bought these for use with a set of Aero Mako saddles. They do make it a lot easier to get our tandem kayak onto the car, but I also have the issue with the rollers tendency to 'torque' on the bar. I think the easy fix for this would be for Yakima to move the center of balance of the fixtures directly over the top of the bar. That said, I am still happy with them overall (as long as I remember to unlock the rollers BEFORE I go to remove the kayak from the car).

Comments about Yakima HullyRollers Boat Mounts - Pair:
The rollers will not stay in position on my round bars. For me, they make loading more difficult. The idea was wonderful-roll your boat into position. It will not work for me. The rollers need bearings, and the holders need to lock on to the bars.

Comments about Yakima HullyRollers Boat Mounts - Pair:
I bought a set of Mako Saddles for the front and these HullyRollers for the back, thinking they would make loading/unloading easier. Not so! The rollers don't roll well at all (and yes, I had the brake unlocked). We got the boat on the car ok, although I think the rollers actually made it more difficult. When removing the boat, the rollers torqued on the crossbar (despite being tightened as tight as we could get them) instead of rolling backwards. These went straight back to REI, and will be replaced with a second set of Mako Saddles, which seem much better.

Comments about Yakima HullyRollers Boat Mounts - Pair:
We have two kayaks that we carry on 2-pr of rollers and 2-pr of Mako saddles that are installed on my truck cap. Easy on-easy off! Please note: the rollers have a locking feature that makes it very difficult for your kayak to leave your vehicle prematurely. If this feature is not disabled prior to loading, the rollers
will not roll. I recommend Yakima products: they have worked for me, whether biking, canoeing, or kayaking.

Comments about Yakima HullyRollers Boat Mounts - Pair:
I bought two pair of these for my parent's who can no longer lift boats over their heads. Unfortunately, the rollers rely on bushings instead of bearings, and most of the time don't roll with the kayak/canoe (they are used for both). I find it difficult to slide the kayak forward and back on the car owing to the rollers lack of roll. You're better off buying some Teflon blocks for your rack over these things. These will be getting swapped out for next season.
The only positive I'd note is the rollers have universal joints allowing them to match the hull of the boat, and seem to be sold when supporting a 60lbs boat going down dirt roads.

Comments about Yakima HullyRollers Boat Mounts - Pair:
I have a 9' Ocean (43 lbs) and a 16' Wilderness Systems (54 lbs). I bought the Hullyrollers to use with the Mako Saddles so that it would be easier to put my boats on my Jeep. The saddles are fine, but the rollers are difficult to say the least. The rubber wheels seem to want to grip the boat rather than let it travel, and the boats' weights are apparently too much for the rollers, which will at some times not turn at all (yes, I made sure the locks were off) and torque my factory crossbar until I have to pick the boat up off of the rollers and let the saddles do all the work. I was happier with my [$] pads. So far, I'm a little dissappointed in this system after having invested so much money in it.
