I have lived in Alaska and currently live in piedmont North Carolina where mosquitoes are smaller but no less irritating. I've used Afterbite for years -- typically buy out the local supply at the beginning of the season. I've even written laudatory emails to the manufacturer. I am a mosquito magnet, and in that capacity, I recommend picaridin-based repellents and Afterbite (for those occasions when picaridin was not available).

I tried this product and actually went through two sticks of it. I just could not believe it did not work at all with the positive feedback here. This product is nothing more than ammonia. that much is clear just by removing the cap.

After being let down by this product I googled mosquito bites and how to treat them. More than one site states that ammonia is not effective though many people still use it. From my research it seems there is very little that will stop the itch once bitten.

This is one of my favorite products. It was recommended to me by an RN. It works really fast, which is great when you are about to itch through your skin. It has a nice cooling feeling as it is applied.

Has a strong ammonia smell at first, but it's worth it. Easy to apply, fast acting and provides relief can't ask for anything more.

There is a kids or an ointment version if this one is too strong.
