Comments about Aqua-Bound Eagle Ray Carbon Shaft Paddle:
I used this paddle for about two years now. It is light with the carbon shaft and the blades are plastic. What is nice about that is your blade will not chip or crack as easy on all the rocks and barnacles we see here in Alaska. Everyone wants an all carbon fiber paddle and blades but near the shore, you have to baby the paddle. If you are very strong like myself, the shaft will flex some but still a very powerful paddle and ease of use for long expedtions. I went to Shoup bay last summer and departed from Valdez and paddled about two to three miles and hour. I never got tired using this blade and will love it forever. You will love it too I have no doubt and if you do not, take it back for that is what is great about REI....return it and try again!!!!

Comments about Aqua-Bound Eagle Ray Carbon Shaft Paddle:
This is a great paddle. I've used it in lakes and rivers. Because of the price I get nervous using it in the rivers but so far the rocks have yet to put a mark in it. It's got awesome grip and very light and comfortable.

Comments about Aqua-Bound Eagle Ray Carbon Shaft Paddle:
Nice and light, small shaft. Have not encountered locking problems that others mentioned. The carbon feels kinda funny when it's wet, like fish scales, but you get a good grip. Great alternative to [$] small, bent shaft paddles.

Comments about Aqua-Bound Eagle Ray Carbon Shaft Paddle:
This paddle is a great step up from the cheaper heavier paddles. In the store thought the grip would feel slippery when wet but it has never felt that way on the water, it has yet to slip on me. It is light enough that even after my arms are tired of pushing water I can still hold the paddle without fatigue.

Comments about Aqua-Bound Eagle Ray Carbon Shaft Paddle:
I used this paddle for a year in the interpassage of Alaska-I used it for sea kayaking day trips up and down the Narrows and fredrick sound and it's so light that my arms never felt the weight of the paddle. . .I have used the orange Aqua bounds and they are good but this one is lighter and makes paddling effortless. I have hit this paddle on many rocks and never had any breaks-Of course I lost this paddle in the Mendenhall river in juneau-so now I need to replace it because i am so unsatisfied with my River kayaking paddle that's an old heavy fanned Ainsworth. I did have issues with the paddle connecting but it could have been due to the salt water.
