That other dude doesn't know what he's talking about, this is a great rear tire. I say rear tire because I prefer a different tread pattern for front tires so I haven't tried it up front and don't have any plans to either. I prefer this kind of "tractor" tread rear tire, they are the best for climbing and the side knobs on this one are big enough and slightly staggered so it really hooks up. The other guy said it wears out easily but it is only because the rubber is softer and stickier. You will definately notice this on any techy climbs, you'll just rip right up them! I'm lucky if I have any tire give me 4 months of life so I'm stoked and willing to give up longevity for the performance of sticky rubber. The Prowler XT rolls better than I thought it would given its size, weight, and tread pattern. I would never put 30psi in any of my tires. I don't understand why people try to run the minimum amount of air thinking it will solve all of their traction problems and then complain of pinch flats. This tire takes a max of 65psi and I found that it runs sweet with around 48 psi for me. That's more than I usually use but using 48 psi on the Prowler XT felt like 40psi on other tires I've used. Running more pressure with this tire has solved a number of issues for me, pinch flats, roll resistance, and it still hooks up. Don't worry about this tire, it definately won't hold you back. A poor craftsman blames his tools.

Seemed like a decent tire at first, but it never really impressed me. My main gripe is that the center knobs are nearly gone after only 4 months of riding once a week mainly on trails that do not have a lot of bedrock outcrops.

Part of the reason I think the tread is so worn is because this tire easily locks up when braking. The skids are usually quite controlled, which is nice, but the skidding is not intentional and the knobs are getting quickly eaten away. The skidding potential also causes me to be more conservative on long, steep rock faces because I know the rear tire will skid if I do not use a lot of front brake.

The tire also easily pinch flats if inflated under 35 PSI. At 30 PSI, the traction was pretty good, but I got tired of changing a tube every ride so I increased the pressure to 35 PSI. Now the traction is average to worse than average.

The only positive I can say about this tire is that the sidewalls have held up quite well even though I know I have caught them on sharp rocks. The casing is 60 TPI so the sideall durability is somewhat expected though. The tire is designed for loose conditions so perhaps I would be happier with it if I never rode on rocks. It never seemed to impress me on loose terrain though.
