    Comments about Big Agnes Emerald Mountain SL3 Vestibule:

    I bought this hoping to get a little (or a lot) of extra room in a vestibule while backpacking. I'm not an ultralighter so I'm willing to add a little extra weight especially since I've owned several backpacking tents which usually have vestibules that are too small. It's nice and long but for someone who's 5'9" it's just too short which makes it cramped to get in and out of. Also, this vestibule (like most add-ons) is not self standing so you'll need to carry the extra tent stakes. There is a vent on the very end which helps with a little airflow but I wouldn't attempt to cook under it in heavy rain without worrying about CO buildup; it's just not big enough for that. The zipper also snags or can be a pain to open with one hand as it sometimes requires a little tension on one side to get it going.
    Like the Emerald Mountain rainfly it is good at doing it's job which is being waterproof (provided you guyed it out well). Weightwise, so long as you aren't counting grams, it's not too bad... but for backpacking it's just not worth the hassle. For the price not worth it either. If you need extra room to keep your gear dry just don't invite a third person into your tent. ;)

      This was a great add on. For some reason I pictured that it would be a little bigger, but not a big deal, won't fit a bike, except for a small kids bike. For all intent and purpose it works great! We have only used it once so far but I am sure it will stand up to anything mother nature can throw at it. It provided a great place for the dog and would be great as a cooking/storgage area in fowl weather camping conditions. I would buy it again at this price.
