    I bought this product to haul books & toys to India and then pack small inside a backpack for the empty return trip. The load inside was heavy, pointy, and just awkward to pack. But the loaded bag survived airline checked baggage, train travel, and a few rooftop jeep rides without even a trace of wear. I would like a bag that squashed down smaller for the return trip, but no lighter fabric could have handled the trip out. I would also like a waterproof bag, but this was plenty repellant enough considering waterproof bags are way more pricey. The covered lockable zipper was a necessity. This bag strikes the right balance for durability, features and price.

      This bag is expensive but probably fairly priced. It is no frills, seems very durable with a heavy duty zipper. Past experience with Eagle Creek and the lifetime warranty sold it for me. I have two other Eagle Creek bags that are nearing 20 yrs of service. Both had minor problems that developed over that time (small tear and broken zipper). I sent to Eagle Creek for repair. They were returned, no charge, in basically new condition 2 weeks later. Note that this bag has basically no internal or external side pockets (one external but very small). Not a problem for me but some may miss them. This is a cargo bag.

      5 Stars! This duffel bag is awesome. It holds a LOT of stuff, AND fits in the overhead bin on an airplane. It is lightweight and very durable. I will definitely be buying the Small size version of this duffel, and perhaps the Large size as well.
