With today's new international airline baggage restrictions, the challenge is finding a bag that's neither too big nor too small to fit the allowed 50 lbs. In that department, this bag (the XL) is just about right. The zipper is nice and the removable shoulder strap is handy and comfortable. However, after just one short trip to Peru, my bag already has two holes worn through the bottom. As happened with my last Eagle Creek duffle, this one just can't stand up to real-world abrasion. Duffles are made to be abused, and this one can't stand up to it. I've had four North Face Expedition duffles of varying sizes and they've held up to all kinds of abuse with minimal wear. I'm returning this one and getting another TNF bag.
