Comments about Deuter Futura Zero 40 Pack:
This is a great pack. I tried the atmos, and REIs venturi, but this pack is definately best in class. It seems to be highly durable and very well thought out. My one and onlt gripe is that the water pouch only has a hanger for deuter brand water bags (like a 1" strip of velcro..might work with others, but none that I have seen). The only way to really know which to buy is to go to the store and try them on. But I think you will find that this pack is the one to buy (even if it weighs an extra few ounces). Enjoy

Comments about Deuter Futura Zero 40 Pack:
Excellent bag for snowshoeing and climbing. had issues with hip belts hurting on other bags, but the support from the back of this one is great. I'm really skinny, 5'6" 135 lbs, so my hip bones rub. I usually do 10-20 mile day hikes. Really easy to strap on everything, shoes, crampons, ax, poles.. ect. Only one belt pocket, i keep my inhaler and chap stick in it, wish there was another one for quick snacks..

This is my new hiking pack, its perfect for 2-3 day hikes. It also has the water space in between the internal frames in the back. Very comfortable bag.

Comments about Deuter Futura Zero 40 Pack:
Used this pack on several day trips and a solo overnighter. It packed all equipment including tent and the side mesh pockets fit great for oval shaped H2O bottles. I just wish it had a rain cover and a decent size pockets on the hip belt. Ventilation and fit are superb.

Comments about Deuter Futura Zero 40 Pack:
I look for gear that will last and don't mind paying extra for quality. This pack meets those requirements. I had never heard of the brand before so I was really skepitcal, until another customer at REI mentioned this brand and recommended it (yeah everyone has an opinion). I have had this pack for 2 years and I use this pack on extended day hikes (12-14hrs) or overnight trips in civilization. Easy to adjust, very comfortable, lightweight but sturdy and holds plenty. Not meant to be a book bag (but fills that role more often than not) but a serious piece of outdoor equipment. My wife use's it also and it fits her excellent (5'7"-140). Excellent quality and don't feel like I got ripped off.
My NorthFace 65 just bit the dust..I will buy a Dueter.

Comments about Deuter Futura Zero 40 Pack:
Tried on several packs in store today, loved the way this pack fit and felt and the size. After trying on maybe 15 packs I kept coming back to this one. Good price, good fit, really comfortable. Ended up buying one and left the store really happy.
Got home and started packing it up and realized that the back I was trying on loaded up in store was bigger than the one I brought home, and the tool loops were different. Checked the site and it turns out I got a Futura Zero 30 with the color and stitching label of the Zero 40. Made me laugh, but the customer service rep that answered the phone said just bring it by and they will swap it out.
Also have to say, the 30 is a nice pack, but a little small for what I wanted.

As usual with Deuter packs this is a great piece of equipment. Great for day hikes and beach / park days. I wish it had an additional zipped pocket.

Comments about Deuter Futura Zero 40 Pack:
I have finally found a certain pack "nirvana"
Looked at everything, tried on nearly every "cubic" variations, this pack is tough to beat. Here's my cube of carbon, I'm 6'0", 225lb and have a pack on my backside filled with my gear and my 12 yrs old while skiing. I've been skiing with a loose pack for a long time - been looking for a great "comfortable" pack to as I'm now packin a hole lot more gear. With frame and support working together - the weight gets more evenly distributed and as I'm sure you can tell - just a little more than enthusiastic about this piece of gear. I'm 57 and comfort and support are big for me. It seems as though the shoulder straps are just as the rei. guy said "better spacing" up top.
Anyway, even if you do nothing else, try one on.
You won't be sorry you took the time
