The REI Member Dividend
The REI dividend is a unique benefit of membership in the REI co-op. It's comprised of your member refund—typically 10% back on eligible purchases—and/or your REI Visa® card rebates.
Each March, active REI members and REI Visa cardholders who earned a rebate receive a refund in the form of an annual dividend notice.
Only active members receive annual dividend notices. To maintain your active status as an REI member, you need to make net merchandise or shipping purchases of at least $10 per year, unless you joined that year. Member numbers are issued in one name and only that person receives the member refund. Your number can be used by others in your family, but it cannot be transferred to someone else.

Comments about Exped MultiMat Sleeping Mat:
There's a reason they call it a Multi-mat. First of all I use this mat in my Hennessey Hammock as my insulation layer, whitch it's perfect for(doesen't slide out from underneath you). With a 20deg bag and some layering, I've used the Multi-mat down to freezing. I've use it "Cowboy Camping" and slept like a baby. Now mind you I was lying on a forest floor and not in the middle of a rocky desert. I pull it out at lunch stops for a "Picnic Blanket". Fold it over a few times and use it as a group sit pad.... on and on.
With it being aprox. 80 x 40 inches you can fold it all diffrent ways to get the desired thickness for sleeping, sitting, whatever you're going to use it for. The weight is only 19oz. It rolls up to nothing. Plus the price. Thanks Exped !

Comments about Exped MultiMat Sleeping Mat:
I liked the concept and got this as a bottom liner to go under the sleeping pad in my hammock. It seemed to work well and not slide around too much due to the foam rubber underside. On the first night out I went to adjust it a bit and pulled a big chunk of foam right off the bottom with no effort at all. When I got back from my camping trip it went back to REI for a refund.

Comments about Exped MultiMat Sleeping Mat:
I try to pack with the philosophy that if I can find two or three uses for something then I can reasonably bring my pack weight down. The pad fits that mantra exactly! This thing is very useful. I have found a million uses for it on the trail. Look it is a sit pad...Look it is a poncho...look it is an insulating layer under my sleep pad...look it is a footprint...You get the idea. While it is too thin to sleep comfortably on as a pad by itself, it will take a three season pad or a summer pad to below freezing or allow you to use it as a blanket to add some extra warmth to your bag. I have used it a thousand different ways and it is a staple of my trips now. I do sometimes leave it behind in the summer but if the temp drops it comes along with me. It is a tad hard to roll up for me but over all the weight is not bad and the usefulness of this item more than makes up for that!

Comments about Exped MultiMat Sleeping Mat:
First of all, I would advise everyone not to try to use this as a sleeping mat. It is a sort of well-endowed picnic blanket. It's great for laying your gear on, setting out in front of your tent, having a meal on the ground, lounging around by the fire or in the sun, providing insulation from the ground. I would not backpack with it, it takes up far too much space even though it weighs hardly anything. I think it has a place kayak camping, especially since it's the perfect shape to be jammed way up in the bow or stern. Exped is a really wonderful company but I feel this product is more of a frill in their lineup of essentials. It would be hard to justify needing it.

Comments about Exped MultiMat Sleeping Mat:
Haven't used this yet. Bought it to use as an insulating layer in my hammock, and it just arrived today...so I can't yet comment on comfort, durability, etc. However, when I pulled it out of the box, I was amazed at how light it is. I didn't think it felt like 19 oz, so I pulled out a postal scale and put it on, in its stuff sack. According to my scale, it weighs only 12 oz...better than advertised. If it holds up, this will probably become a staple in my weekend pack, even when I don't need the insulation in my hammock.

Comments about Exped MultiMat Sleeping Mat:
Use as a ground cloth it gives the entire tent a bit of insulation and cushion.I normally use a closed cell pad (two in winter), but with this I can take a shorter closed cell pad (4oz.) in case it is rocky (or just one full length one in winter?), so I save a bit of weight and don't have to stay on a sleeping pad (except maybe the short one).Replaces heavy duty footprint for small two person tent for same price ([$]) and weight (about 12 oz.), weighs a bit more than other type of ground cloths (TyVek, sil-nylon, plastic sheets etc.)Probably work very well in hammock which needs a wider pad, but no need for cushion.

Comments about Exped MultiMat Sleeping Mat:
These are really versatile, you can get some use out of it as shelter if you weren't planning on needing any but then you do, or just for added comfort and insulation if you don't. I really find it coming in handy in the morning as a clean spot to collect and then pack all my gear, or to just stretch out on. Or as a way to keep gear out of the rain while packing up.
If I'm taking my tent, I use this instead of its footprint, and get the bonus of having the entire floor of my tent and some of my vestibule padded (using a UL 1 Copper Spur). Although, at a gain of 14 ounces to my pack if I still take some kind of sleeping mat too.
I wish they had some different sizes and thicknesses, as it is, it's sort of a tweener product. As it is not really comfortable or warm enough for most people to use on a regular bases as a sleeping pad without stuffing clothes or leaves into it when folded in half. Yet, if I could get it folded 3 times, it might be enough for me as it is. It just isn't wide enough to reasonably fold 3 times and sleep on it. As an impromptu rigged bit of shelter in heavy unexpected rain or light snow, it almost is something you could really use to shield yourself, but not quite.
Basically I love it, but wish they made, or REI sold a size just a tad bigger.

Comments about Exped MultiMat Sleeping Mat:
This thing is great. I have owned it well over a year and have used it many times. I use it as a tarp under my tents to protect my sleeping pads from sharp objects and it makes it a lot more comfortable to move around in the tent since it cushions the ground. I have used it as a stand alone tarp and in snowy conditions to create a barrier from the snow. A great backup in case there is a pad malfunction and can even be used as a shelter. This is a must have for anyone who backpacks since it doesn't take up a lot of space and if you have an inflatable pad like a BA ore a neo air you can even roll your pad into the sack for the multi mat to save space. Riped my first one early on but repair was easy with a little tape. You won't be disappointed if you buy this
