Comments about Timbuk2 Classic Messenger Bag - Large:
Pricey messenger bags, but of very good quality and fully customizable. They used to be made entirely in San Francisco, but now come from factories in other countries as well. The large will hold a 17" laptop.

Comments about Timbuk2 Classic Messenger Bag - Large:
I use this bag to get from Brooklyn to Manhattan on the subway. I carry a lot of stuff--lunch, socks, phone/wallet/keys/sunglasses/etc, knitting project, book, iPod, carpal tunnel braces, sweater. Everyone who picks it up asks why I have so much stuff. Anyway, the bag holds it all and has some good pockets, zippered and not--including pockets inside the zippered ones--and a good place to put my phone. Everything can still be accessed with one hand. Drawback: when I stuff it, it's really hard to keep it closed with the velcro (at least it ISN'T on the flap, which saves my sweaters) and the side-release buckles. Easy for someone to sneak a hand in while I'm on the crowded subway or in the station. Also gives me a red spot on my clavicle when I'm wearing a tank top, but that's no biggie.
