Comments about Lowa Tempest Lo Cross-Training Shoes - Men's:
I am on my third pair of the Tempest Lo in 7 years. I wear them every day in my shop and on light trails. I wear them 6 days a week on average and they have been the best fitting, most comfortable shoes I've ever owned. I also think they are great looking: not too flashy, not too plain.
I guess that feet vary widely and every foot/shoe combination is unique. I've tried Salomon, Merrell, and Keen, each of which lacks the overall satisfaction I have found with the Lowas. All I can say is that these have been perfect for me.

These shoes are the best I've ever worn. My feet are very happy. I mated mine with superfeet insoles because I have low volume feets. I noticed that the material in the uppers stretches the longer I wear them. Often I re-lace tighter after wearing multiple days in succession.

Comments about Lowa Tempest Lo Cross-Training Shoes - Men's:
Great fitting shoe, I have owned two different versions of this shoe and have enjoyed them, with two exceptions.
1. Both pairs I have owned started to "squeak" or make a clicking sound when walking. the first pair did it often, second pair it would come and go.
2. The traction on the sole wears out after about 1 year. Really good traction, but the knobs go flat after a year or so of use.
The fit and comfort of these are great, and they work fabulous on the trails, but the squeak issue and wear out of the traction will prevent me from buying again.

Comments about Lowa Tempest Lo Cross-Training Shoes - Men's:
I just bought my second pair of Lowa's hikers and I also just made my older brother get a pair. I can wear out a normal pair of shoes in 3 months, but my last pair of Lowa's held their own for nearly 4 years before a small bit of stiching came loose near the toe! Mind you, I wore them nearly every day and took them on every one of my camping and traveling trips.
I live in New York and I wear them every day in the city, but they were also my primary hiking shoe on a recent 5-day camping trip I went on in Idaho. FYI - the soles can be a bit slick on wet rocks - I guess that's an issue with Vibram.
I highly recommend them to anyone, even as a daily walking shoe in an urban area. I don't usually swear by many products, but these Lowa shoes are one of the great products I've ever had the pleasure to own, and their certainly one of the best shoes out there. My brother now loves them as well! The only reason I didn't give them a five star rating is because nothing is ever truly perfect...

Comments about Lowa Tempest Lo Cross-Training Shoes - Men's:
I am very pleased with these as my everyday work shoe and have worn them for several months. I plan on buying another pair. I spend mornings in the office and then go out to the field the rest of the day to check various job sites as an engineer. I need a shoe which is acceptable in an office environment, which is also comfortable, with good traction on wet or irregular footing, asphalt, dirt or gravel. My US military issue combat boots were size 10R, and in these I must wear a UK size 11 or EU 295mm. Wear these around in the store before deciding on a size unless you order a full size larger than your US size.

Comments about Lowa Tempest Lo Cross-Training Shoes - Men's:
I use this boot on average of twice a week for hikes from 4 to 15 miles and find them very satisfactory. These are my first low-cut boots in about 8 years and they seem to provide sufficient support for my 215 pounds. I use them on well established trails as well as some cross country routes with equal satisfaction. I've used them in both mountain and desert terrains.

Comments about Lowa Tempest Lo Cross-Training Shoes - Men's:
I was looking to buy a second pair of Tempest Lo in the Fall of 2007 at my local REI store when I came to find out that the shoe displayed here was the new, redesigned Tempest Lo. I was not happy as I was a fan of the previous design and was a little skeptical when the inital fit was a bit narrow, but I got them anyway. After nearly a year of almost daily wear, I am back here at REI to buy a second pair before they redesign it again. I see an occasional review indicating durability issues with Lowa products, but I've had 6 different shoes and they've all been top rate. As with most Lowa shoes, I found the Tempest Lo to be a bit narrow at first, but it quickly loosened up to be a perfect fit. This shoe is a rock solid performer for me at work (office and field) and at play (hiking mostly). The shoe provides great support (shank stiffness perfect for hiking), and as I read in at least one other review the tongue and laces stay in place and I never need to adjust them during my activities. I find the shoe to be very comfortable, never hot, but keeps my feet warm on the coldest days. I would've prefered neutral shades of brown, but I've grown fond of the gray with blue trim. Keep up the great work Lowa!

These are my second pair of Tempest. The first I thought were the most comfortable shoes I had ever owned. The 1st have Superfeet which give great support. I am going to put Superfeet in the new ones. The new Tempest have short tongues which make them uncomfortable. The tongue digs into the front of my foot. The old shoes, the tongue is 3/4 of an inch longer. The new shoes have more outer protection at the front of the shoe. That is the only improvement. My first Tempest were long wearing, the soles became thin after much heavy use. They were always quiet.

Comments about Lowa Tempest Lo Cross-Training Shoes - Men's:
Aside from adding superfeet insoles the boots were great. However after a few months the right shoe started to "squeak" when you walk. I tried various things but the vibram sole has has made itself convex and every step you take it squeaks, loud enough to be annoying! The only way to describe it is if your shoes are wet and you walk into a hard surface like the grocery store... I own (2) other pairs of Lowa boots and LOVE them.
