Comments about REI Stratocruiser Wheeled Pack 2.0 - 25'':
This is a fantastic bag, well worth the expense! I got it 2 months ago and have thus far used it on a 4-day cross-country train trip and a 5-day trip to eastern Canada. The bag worked even better than expected - the handles on all sides made it easy to lift into overhead train compartments; the sturdy wheels and long handle made it easy to wheel across 4-miles of Chicago streets; the backpack features made it possible to comfortably carry the bag over slushy streets in Ottawa; and the waterproof material and heavy plastic covering on the bottom kept the interior safe and dry when I dragged the bag through snow and slush in Quebec. The bag easily fits at least a week of clothing, with a maximum carrying capacity of about 45 lbs, and the readily detachable daypack is quite handy with easy access exterior pockets. Overall, great bag for long weekends and a must-have for extended vacations.

Comments about REI Stratocruiser Wheeled Pack 2.0 - 25'':
After extensive research, I purchased this bag for a 3.5 week trip in Europe. It had to have sufficient capacity for that length of travel, as I took no other luggage. It had to be versatile (carry, wheel, backpack), as I made ample use of air, train, and boat while traveling through Italy, Austria, and Switzerland. Finally, it had to carry everything I needed for both professional (academic conference) and personal interests. This bag did it all! There was ample space, with some hand washing in a hotel in Venice. My laptop--a small Dell--fit perfectly in the day pack. And it even accommodated the obligatory sports jacket, shirt, and tie (required for the conference) without wrinkling. My only modest complaint is that the backpack feature is difficult to use when the pack is heavily loaded. Given my length of stay and the fact that I needed both professional and personal gear, the pack weighed in at nearly 50lbs. That, and the fact that the day pack, when stuffed and attached to the roller, extends quite a distance from the body, made the backpack feature unusable--weight extended too far from body for comfort. Otherwise, it rolls like a dream through airports, over cobblestone, in the mud, and the day pack is absolutely perfect as a small carry on or for use while touring cities. I use it extensively in the US, too, as it has become my "go to" bag for any kind of extended trip. Buy with confidence!

I bought this pack planning on it being my "go to" bag for the long haul on international disaster response trips, adventure vacations and family trips. Bad News: I was a bit disappointed after it's maiden voyage on a short business trip. I discovered at baggage claim that the black plastic piece on the bottom (that helps it stand upright) was barely hanging on by the 4 rivets that had all been ripped out of the bottom of the bag. Good News: A local trip to the hardware store with 4 new nuts/bolts/washers to replace the rivets have repaired the problem and made it more bomb proof than before. The interior zipper of the big bag will let you access the inner workings in case you need to do a similar repair. Still love the bag!!!!!! It performed very nicely last week on a Pacific Northwest Urban-Mountain-Island adventure. And - you can just keep cramming stuff into the daypack!!!!!!

Comments about REI Stratocruiser Wheeled Pack 2.0 - 25'':
REI's wheeled pack was my only luggage used on a recent 2 week trip through China. The detachable day pack was a great carry on and the capacity held all my essentials plus there always seemed to be room to add more throughout the day. The wheeled pack even held up better than my travel companions Victorinox wheeled pack which had a seam rip open during this trip. I will definitely recommend REI's wheeled pack to all my friends and family.

I recently went to Hong Kong, then Manila, Cebu and then Tagbilaran and reversed back to SF. Through international airports to 3rd World ferry liners, it rolled beautifully through concrete, dirt & mud. It packed easily and has ample storage, zippers never stressed when stretched and I had enough clothes for 7 days. I'm going back again in 3 months to put it through the same punishment. I bet it won't fail me.

We bought one for our daughter for her trip to Europe and my wife liked it so much, we had to get one for her too. Daughter has not made the trip yet but my wife loves her Stratocruiser. It's easy to pack, sturdy and has numerous well placed storage compartments. The day pack, although not all that large, works fine for carrying her personal items and a change of clothes with a bit of room to spare. For those of you looking to carry a laptop in the daypack, this one may be a bit too small. (Try the Eagle Creek Switchback or another with a larger daypack). The main pack has proven very durable, surviving several flights with only the expected scuffs and abrasions and one missing rubber zipper cover. REI may want to consider beefing up the hold down straps in the main compartment the something akin to the Eagle Creek Switchbacks larger mesh hold downs (minor complaint though, given the overall high quality of this pack.)

After my first trip to Europe, I realized a conventional wheeled suitcase would never work. I looked at many backpack/wheeled suitcases and this one is perfect. What's great is the large packing area, the comfortable handle, the ability for it to convert to a backpack, and the small daypack is amazingly compact yet roomy. The only downside is the one color it comes in (which shows every little mark) but I now see it will come in two other colors! I cannot say enough good things about this product. If you travel in Europe, you will doubly appreciate the backpack conversion, esp. on the trains!
