Comments about Merrell Siren Sport Cross-Training Shoes - Women's:
They are my first Merrell's, and I think they are FANTASTTIC. I took them to Hawaii and walked over EVERY kind of terrain, from volcanoes to rain-forest to beach. Even when they got a bit wet, they were quick to dry. I plan on getting the same shoe, except with Gore-Tex, for the more wet conditions. If you feel like you are in between an 81/2 and 9, go with a 9 and get a sock with a bit more cushion. I like Smartwools Running PhD Ultra Light micros.

Chalk up another 5 stars for these puppies! First of all, they look way better in person than in the picture. Second, they are light as a feather, but have a nice, sturdy Vibram sole that handles trails and rocks well. When I first put them on, I thought they weren't going to be very comfy on rocky surfaces, but I was wrong. These are true x-trainers - they're not going to protect your toes from a huge boulder and they likely would not make good full-time running shoes, either on the trail or on the road. But they are great for doing a little bit of everything, including hiking, without having to own a gajillion different pairs of shoes. If you're hardcore into one thing, then by all means, get a pair of shoes just for that. Then get these for everything else.

Comments about Merrell Siren Sport Cross-Training Shoes - Women's:
My first pair of Merrell's and they won't be my last. I've used this shoe for a few miles of walking and running almost daily for 2 months, and I'm impressed. Granted, I don't have any foot issues, but I found these exceptionally comfortable and responsive. Grip well in all but icy snow. They allow my feet a sense of the ground because they're not bulky, and minimize foot size if that matters to you. Got 'em in blue w/lime yellow lining - very cute and versatile. On big roots and round rocks in Mexico they were unstable because of their rounded sides, but on streets and trails in the Northwest they're great. Feet stay comfortable in both heat & chill. Money well spent. REI rocks!

Comments about Merrell Siren Sport Cross-Training Shoes - Women's:
This is my first pair of Merrells after several pairs of New Balance trail runners and all I can say is that I wish I had tried Merrells sooner. The four way cushioning offers everything it promises. I wear them to the gym six days a week, for strength training and cardio (mostly running), and use them for street running about twice a week. They provide excellent support for running and have yet to fail me during intense sets of lateral movement.
They were comfortable right out of the box--no break-in period or blisters--and I'm not aching to get out of them once my work out's done. These shoes are incredibly lightweight, very breathable and oh-so comfortable. I've put them through the routine mentioned above for about 4 months now, with no significant signs of wear.
They also happen to be very cute. I'm planning on buying another pair, just in case Merrell discontinues them before my current pair wears out. Love them!

Comments about Merrell Siren Sport Cross-Training Shoes - Women's:
I purchased these Merrell's just two days before a trip to the NW and walking through the airport was enough to break them in! I spent three days walking the hills in downtown Seattle non-stop. My feet felt so great in the Siren's that I ran the Whidbey Island 1/2 Marathon in them and followed it up with two days of Portland exploration. My entire trip was foot-ache and blister free and after six months of continuous ware and tear - they're LITERALLY as good as new and still sexy as h-e-l-l! They don't call them Siren's for nothing! If I'm not in heels, I'm in Merrell's!

Comments about Merrell Siren Sport Cross-Training Shoes - Women's:
This was my first pair of Merrell shoes, so I have no history to base the quality of other shoes from this manufacturer. They are comfortable shoes, although they offer different support than that of running shoes (obviously since they are cross-training shoes). Being that I was used to the support and fit of running shoes, it took a little getting used to. I would recommend trying them on before purchasing so you know you like the fit.
My biggest concern with these shoes is that for the TWO pairs that I have wore, the socket in which the lace is inserted (at the top of the shoe) ripped out when I was tying it. This occurred when tugging the laces to tighten the fit- and I'm not that agressive when it comes to tying shoes, so I don't feel I used excessive force. The first time it happened, I thought it was just a freak occurence so I exchanged them for a second pair at REI. The second time it happened, I took a closer look at the stitching- only to see that there is hardly any holding the plastic socket to the shoe. I then took the shoes to a repair shop, they validated my observation that there are hardly any thread bearings holding the socket to the shoe.
Bottom-line, if you like Merrell shoes, you'll probably like the fit of these shoes. However, being new to the manufacturer, I was disappointed with the quality (especially for the price). I've had less-expensive shoes that have held up better.

Comments about Merrell Siren Sport Cross-Training Shoes - Women's:
First off, let me start by saying I used this shoe on the last leg of my Appalachian Trail thru-hike (White Mountains to Katahdin), so I was probably pushing this little bad-boy to its limits! I'm sure the average user wouldn't have treated the shoe as I had to.
That being said, I am very glad I went with this shoe. I chose it online based on what I thought I would need at the time: lightweight, something narrow (form-fitting) enougth to allow me to stick my foot between boulders, comfortable for days of walking at a time. I also needed a shoe that could dry out easily, as Maine is known for being a place you get your feet wet.
I was very happy that I'd gone with this shoe. My feet never hurt, ever. The sole is AMAZING, and to this day has enough tread on it look nearly new (and this after a couple months of walking on pure rock!). The only "flaw" I found was that BOTH the mesh uppers tore in exactly the same spot (right along the toe guard)... but that was due to the roughness of the terrain and snagging roots, so I'm sure that wouldn't really be that much of a concern for the general consumer.
In all, a hearty little shoe. I couldn't have been happier.

Nice Looking, Sporty shoe which fits true to size and width. Comfort wise it's okay but not enough cushion for me. I had to purchase a separate insole otherwise my feet hurt in these shoes.
I'll probably go back to my running Nike's after these wear out.

Comments about Merrell Siren Sport Cross-Training Shoes - Women's:
I bought these Merrells for hiking and trail running. The stiff fit and narrow toe area put pressure on my toes and the top of my foot, although the length was fine. I kept wearing them in hopes that they would "break in" and become more comfortable, but unfortunately I ended up with a Morton's neuroma after only a few months. I haven't been running or hiking in the past 6 months because of the neuroma, which bothers me even when I walk. I ended up giving the lightly-used Merrells to Goodwill. Only buy these shoes if you have narrow feet and low arches.

Comments about Merrell Siren Sport Cross-Training Shoes - Women's:
I don't know why reviewers here stated that Siren is true to size. I happened to be a 7 medium except in running shoes when my feet need room to expand during long runs.
I just bought my usual Asics GT-2140 and Siren at the same time. Asics' 7.5 outsole is longer than Siren's outsole by about an inch!
If you are a true size 7 like me (7.5 too loose and 6.5 too tight), buy half a size up in this style.
The above being said, Siren is cute! I don't need them because I usually wear my running shoes if I must pound the pavement (rare because I live in Los Angeles). However, I just could not pass them by without taking them home. ;)
The outsoles are hard, wieght is light, and top is breathable therefore they should be comfortable in action.
The only thing is that there's very little arch support. If you must have it, replace the factory insoles with your own supportive ones.
