Overall, I loved this Merrill Moab shoe. They are attractive to me - like someone else mentioned, they are not flourescent-colored and do not have the fancy designs I dislike.
This summer I walked a 500-mile trail in Spain, about 1/3 of it in these Moabs. Daily walking did not wear them out, or even scruff the tread, they are extremely durable. I bought the shoes larger than my normal size, since I knew my feet would swell on such a long trail; yet they did seem a bit smaller than another pair I had of the same size.
But those metal heel stiffeners eventually gave me blisters. Over the course of about six days of daily walking 12 - 20 miles a day, I developed blisters on my inside heels at the exact spot of the stiff insets. The Spanish foot doctor I had to visit pointed this out to me.
I stopped wearing them for much of the rest of that trail (another month or so) and in fact never wore them on consecutive days. It was disappointing, because I did like a lot about them.
I now wear them on day treks only. I still like them, but wanted to warn hikers about that day in day out use and the effect of the stiff heel inset.

I got these to replace my multi-purpose shoe that I had. The Vibrum soles do not wear out and they still look almost new after 3 years of use. I have found that these shoes will give me blisters in weird places inbetween my toes after wearing them to do long hikes many days in a row. I bought some canvas Keens for walking but in the end if I know that I will be gone for an hour or more, I put on my Merrells. they do well for large day hikes but like I said, not many days in a row. While wearing them biking, you can actually feel the air blowing through the shoe on your foot. That's great. But if water does touch the mesh part, you will be wet very shortly.

As soon as I put these on in the store, my feet said YES to the roomy toe-box and generous padding. I have worn them during the last year for summer mountain day hikes (max 12 miles) and around town in spring and fall. They have covered many miles with no complaints from my feet and no significant wear. As the name implies, they keep my feet cooler than hiking boots. The Vibram soles provide excellent traction. I replaced the laces with Yankz, which make shoes easy to put on without treading down the backs, and Yankz also add a little give, which I like. The shoes are dirt-colored, a big plus in my opinion. Highly recommended for day hiking and general purpose use.

In preparation for fairly light (3-5 miles per day total on trails and boardwalks) hiking in the Tetons and Yellowstone, I tried on many different brands and styles in the REI store and elsewhere, and finally settled on these Merrells at almost the last minute. I wore them on asphalt roadway in my hilly Maryland neighborhood for a few days and found them very comfortable with one exception: On my right foot, I have a Morton neuroma (for you who are free of foot issues, this is a tiny cluster of irritable nerves on the foot, behind the smaller toes), and it acted up almost immediately. This sometimes happens when the footbed of the shoe is a little stiff, as is the case with these shoes. I solved this quickly by inserting a drugstore-brand adhesive-backed 1/4"-thick ball of foot cushion in BOTH shoes. Everything worked out great! I also wore light-cushion hiking socks, which did fine. We had only dry weather, so I can't tell you how these would perform in wet conditions. I like Merrell's professed attention to balancing the shoes to prevent over- or under-pronation in women, taking stress off the knees. Having had three knee surgeries, two on one and one on the other knee, I am always grateful for anything that helps stabilize me and reduce impact. Very happy with these! I was also thrilled to find that they came in 10.5, which fit beautifully. I wear a 10M in a dress shoe and often have to buy an 11 in an athletic shoe.

These shoes are fantastic! They are super comfortable and incredibly supportive. The q-form woman specific foot bed makes a big difference- being flat footed and having wider hips sometimes make for unhappy knees. Merrell has eliminated this problem for me- the Moab is the best sneaker I've ever owned. A big plus is the way they look- for a hiking shoe, they are remarkably stylish and super grippy.

This was my first pair of hikers! They were pretty wonderful except that they only lasted a year. I average about 5-10 miles per week of hiking mostly in the Phoenix Mountain Preserves and Dreamy Draw and at about 10 months the tread started wearing out and I could feel the rocks. They never gave me blisters even when I hiked 10+ miles. They are a great pair of hikers for someone like me who is an average hiker. The shoe laces were a bit long-- not a big deal.

I love my Merrell Moab Ventilator Hiking Shoes. I bought a second pair because I wore out my first. After trying many different types of hiking/everyday shoes for both hiking and every day wear, the Moab Ventilator has stood up to my rough use of these shoes. I highly recommend these shoes for causal wear and hiking. Basically, I really enjoy wearing these shoes and recommend them to others.

This is my second pair and it seems they have changed the vendor they were using. There is a difference in the width and the length. The construction is not as durable. I will be taking them back after the holidays. I have seen this happen before - if you like them the first time around buy two pair as my husband always says.

Have worn them for both light backpacking/camping adventures and a month of international backpacking. They held up well and provided great support whether I was on trail or hitting a cafe. The color and style works well with most clothing, even a skirt if the need arises (temple, mosque, etc). I have enjoyed the shoes so much I had my mother try them and she got a pair for her own travels.

These weigh so little it's like you have nothing on your feet. They're also cool -- I wear them to hike in the High Desert. Their performance on rock is just fine, and they look nice (no weird neon colors). The only place I wouldn't wear these is heavy-duty talus, carrying a heavy pack, or in the wet. They do tend to fit 1/2 size small, so order accordingly. Mine are starting to wear a bit inside at the heel -- there's a metal shank or something that's starting to bend and poke me -- but I have had them for several years and covered many miles.
