Comments about Mountain Hardwear Sprite 1 Tent:
I picked up the Mountain Hardwear Sprite 1 for a 7-day backpacking trip in Grand Canyon. I've previously packed a two-person tent but wanted to go to a solo design to shed pounds and enhance comfort on this long trek. Simply put, the Sprite 1 worked great! It is easy and quick to setup. This tent accommodates my 5'10" frame with reasonable comfort. (It may be a little too tight for you 6-footers.) There's enough head room for me to sit up while getting into or out of my hiking clothes. The angled storage area at the head end is perfect for miscellaneous items you want to keep handy. The mesh pocket is perfect for glasses, maps, etc. For those of you camping on hard pack, I do recommend replacing the stakes with something like the MSR Groundhog or Easton Nano. Or just use some large rocks.

Comments about Mountain Hardwear Sprite 1 Tent:
I took this as my solo tent at Philmont (northern New Mexico Boy Scout ranch) and thought it was great. My 200-pound, 6'0" frame found it a bit cramped, but the light weight and dryness in heavy rains balanced it out. I'm guessing it would even be good in cool weather, due to the durable fly and minimal air volume. That little "nook" was absolutely perfect for keeping essentials (dry socks, water bottle, contacts, etc) exactly where I needed them.

Comments about Mountain Hardwear Sprite 1 Tent:
Good tent for the price. But you do get what you paid for...
I used this tent on a solo trip from Yosemite Valley to Devils Postpile and it worked well.
I was surprised to see how some people thought it was good for tall people. My head and my toes hit the inside of the tent and I'm only 5'10". Width was good and it fit my large Prolite Thermarest easily.
I had no problems with water in the rain, set up fast, and had the room I needed for my gear (backpack not included).
I did have trouble getting the fly to tighten down with all the straps pulled to the full extent. The window on the fly is pointless to me but some may like it.
Mesh on the tent seems to 'scratch' easy compared to my other more expensive tents. It also didn't seem to 'fit' together well when set up. The fly (see above), loose areas, and tight areas. Poor consruction or poor backpacker... Only you can decide.
Ventalation is excellent and I love how much mesh the tent has (pretty much the entire tent). I had no condensation inside the tent at all.
Overall, I was happy with this tent regardless of the minor flaws.

Comments about Mountain Hardwear Sprite 1 Tent:
This tent is the jet! Not only is it light and compact in my backpack, the design is oldschool with a few new tricks up it's sleeve. Part of the footprint (sold separately) nests outside the tent body under the vestibule serving as a floor for my pack! The angular section at the front of the tent is great storage for my clothes and boots! Enough said! If you are looking for a lightweight solo tent with great headroom look no further. My hat off to Mountain Hardware and the Sprite 1

Comments about Mountain Hardwear Sprite 1 Tent:
What can I say thats not great about this tent. I am 5'8" and fit very nicely in here. I would love to have a little more headroom, but in a solo you are not going to get much better than this. The sprite packs down small and weight is not a problem at all. As far as storage, the nook next to your head is great for stashing things that you would want close and dont want to fumble around in the middle of the night searching for. Space has not been a problem for me as my pack stays outside on a tree or in the vestibule (which is just big enough for my boots and a 4700 cu in pack). All in all it does a good job with ventilation, weight, keeping me dry and space for a solo.

Comments about Mountain Hardwear Sprite 1 Tent:
I've pitched this tent a few times since receiving it, and it's an excellent design. I should warn that at 6' I almost don't fit. I almost touch both ends with my head and feet. I love the little nook, great for keeping late night snacks, headlamp, and whatever else. I also love the way the door is shaped, I can unzip it, and stand up with my feet in the tent (perfect for throwing your boots on).
The fly does a great job of shedding water (after my super technical water hose tests) and snugs down really tight for crazy storms. The shape of the tent allows for some out of tent under the fly space for keeping the rest of your gear out of the rain (unless you carry a gigantic pack)
Awesome tent, I'm going to post a review after my next big trip.

Comments about Mountain Hardwear Sprite 1 Tent:
Wanted a tent for those times I went mountain biking with the club without the family. Didn't realize how small it was until I was actually in it with my gear. Definitely a minimalist tent. Not a lot of room for gear or change into the mtb gear. With your gear off to the little side compartment, there seemed to be ample room to sleep. No problem handling the first night downpour.

Comments about Mountain Hardwear Sprite 1 Tent:
Quick setup, pretty well built, but most importantly for me (6-6 tall trekker) is the combo of its nice length combined with a fairly light weight. Vestible is a nice feature also.

First off i like the area next to your head to store stuff, also its really easy to set up. The down side though it is very hard to get in and out with your pack inside the vistuble.

Comments about Mountain Hardwear Sprite 1 Tent:
I used this tent for one trip to the UP of MI, It worked ok the first night but the rest were spent along a rocky lakefront so sense this tent requires stakes I slept outside. Its not a bad tent if you know where your going to be setting up at however it just wasn't versatile enough for me.
