Comments about Salomon XA Comp 3 Trail-Running Shoes - Men's:
Took two runs to wear them in near my little toe. Since then I couldn't be happier. Wear nice pair of running socks and you are set. Shoe breaths well. Haven't worn them in mud or rain, but I'm sure they would be fine.

Comments about Salomon XA Comp 3 Trail-Running Shoes - Men's:
Bought these for runs on desert trails as well as hiking/jogging areas like Pinnacle Peak trail (light hike, more of a jog, no pack, etc) and other such hike/runs. The first pair I bought hurt the underside of my right foot opposite my arch. I didn't notice this until about an hour of casual wear to break them in. I removed the insole and discovered that the stitching inside the shoe was improper, creating a little bulge of fabric. I thought for sure that was the problem, so I exchanged them for a new pair.
The new ones felt fine, and I took them for a jog up Pinnacle Peak to break them in, and they performed wonderfully. Good stability, good rock protection, and no rubbing (wore them with smartwool runners - great combination). The lacing system provided an excellent fit, too. I declared them "good to go."
Then, a couple days later, I wore them out casually to go to the store, and I began to develop the pain in the right foot again after about an hour. I checked the stitching and it was fine. I replaced the insole with one from another pair of runners but the same pain persisted.
Although I think they're fine for me when I run in them on dirt/gravel/rocks, it seems the pain comes when I'm just walking around on concrete or whatever. I have a lower volume, normal to narrow foot and I can't quite pinpoint the source of the pain. It almost feels like the nylon plate underneath is causing the problem. I've adjusted the laces, tongue, etc, but I think it's one of those "it's just not right for my foot" things, and not a problem with the shoe itself. Too bad for me, because it's a great looking shoe that does it's job well.
If they don't cause you any pain, you'll love them.
I'm returning them and trying the Vasque Blur SL instead.

Comments about Salomon XA Comp 3 Trail-Running Shoes - Men's:
If it weren't for the shoe laces I'd give these shoes 5 stars. The shoe has great traction and stability for my low arches. However the laces and eyelets lasted only 1 1/2 months in heavy training (mud, snow, river crossings). Conventional replacement laces will not work. I'm a 6'2" 230 lb runner and logged 240 miles on these shoes. I will say that I have yet to find a shoe that matches Salomons when it comes to stability for big frame runners.

Is the best DiscGolf shoe I have found. Works very well on concrete, grass and rubber teepads and all weather conditions. DiscGolfers rarely wimp out cause of the weather, we even played here last year in 70 plus mile per hour winds as the electricity was out so no computers! keeps the feet comfortable and stable in every condition I have played in, even marathon tourneys!

Comments about Salomon XA Comp 3 Trail-Running Shoes - Men's:
The best shoes for summer time. I took these to Japan in the middle of summer where it's hot and humid. Kept my feet relatively cool, but most of all, odorless! That never happens with shoes in that country and I've been there many times. I walked about 12 miles a day and they were so comfortable, my hamstrings gave out before my feet. I even took these up Mt. Fuji and they performed like champs. Comfortable, great traction...and did I mention keeps your sweaty dawgs refreshed? Not for rain, though, as the mesh-like material soaks up water. I've found my shoes for hot, humid countries. These lightweight runners will pay you back in spades.

Comments about Salomon XA Comp 3 Trail-Running Shoes - Men's:
The lacing system on these shoes is poor. It was tough for me to get a good snug fit. Even when tightened very tightly, they would loosen up after a while. Also, they get VERY hot! I have returned my salomons.

Comments about Salomon XA Comp 3 Trail-Running Shoes - Men's:
I have hiked an extended weekend on the Ozark trail in Missouri in these. They handled a 25 lb pack without any problems. These shoes have a good balance between breathable and non breathable materials, making them adequately cool but still rugged enough and protective enough to handle the trail. My feet have never been more dry. Quite possibly my favorite trail shoes yet. Haven't had any issues after about 3 months with the lacing system as other reviewers have listed.

Comments about Salomon XA Comp 3 Trail-Running Shoes - Men's:
I bought these shoes last week for trail running and tried them out on the treadmill for a few miles. Everything felt good so I wore them for the Sunmart 50K at Huntsville, TX this weekend. I had a spare pair of shoes available in case these gave me problems but I did not need to use the spares. These Salomons worked perfectly on dry, dusty trails. The sole is sturdy enough to protect against rocks and roots and gripped well. The mesh uppers gave me dirty socks but great ventilation. The lacing system was quick and secure. Combined with Smartwool socks, these shoes gave me a smooth ride with no blisters. Highly recommended!

Comments about Salomon XA Comp 3 Trail-Running Shoes - Men's:
I bought my pair 3 years ago and I wear them multiple times a week. Other than the tread being worn down, not a single stitch or glued seam showed signs of wear until this past week. I have taken these shoes through some fairly rough stuff. This is the first pair of shoes I have owned that lasted longer than a year.
They are comfortable, easy and fast to put on. They breath almost too well. After hiking on the dry dusty trails around Austin, my socks match the color of the trail.
The only reason I am looking at replacing them is due to the worn down tread.
