These pants are perfect for camping and hiking. They are lightweight, which makes them great in hot weather or heavy hiking, and they dry quickly. They pack really well and don't wrinkle easily, either. There is just the right amount of pockets, in just the right places. Of these, there is one with a zipper and one with velcro. You can easily turn them into shorts, which are of a nice length.

I went on a 10-day trip to Yellowstone and the Badlands, and I wore these pants everyday. They looked great the whole time and were super comfortable.

I love these pants! I now own 3 pairs, one in each color. They fit really well and are great for tall women (I'm 5'9" and the inseam is perfect for me).

LOVED these pants. Just bought them Friday for our daytrip to Yosemite the next day. Did some "light" hiking. These pants were extremely comfortable, lightweight, didn't chafe, weren't constricting. About the only drawback...I wish they had a slightly larger zipped cargo pocket. Other than that, I'm considering getting another pair.

If you shave your legs, don't buy these pants. I don't know what it is about the finish of the fabric's inside, but it catches and pulls on even one day's growth of leg hair. I couldn't stand to wear them. Too bad, because the fit was perfect. Back to my old REI convertible pants even though they're too short -- sure wish I could buy the Tall version of the old ones.

Not everyone will care about this, but thought I'd mention it because the fit seems to be different in the tall vs. regular versions. I tried these pants on in the store, along with the regular-length version. When I tried on the regular size it was just a bit too short (I'm 5'11"), but the pant legs looked straight. The length of the tall version was good, but the proportions seem to be off. For some reason on the tall version, the "shorts" are puffier than the pant legs, so my leg looked puffier above the zipper to remove the pant legs, and thinner below, NOT like the regular version. I'm not sure if this is due to the shorts being longer on the tall version and just hitting the wrong spot or what, but I definitely felt dorky when I saw how the tall version of the pants fit. I ended up buying the regular version. I recommend you try on both the tall and regular versions before buying these pants!

I wanted these pants for travel overseas because they appeared durable and easy to wash by hand and dry overnight; cutting down the amount of clothing I pack and the size of my carry-on bag have become increasingly important. However, neither of the front secure pockets is big enough for my passport, which is the reason I'm returning them. For domestic travel they'd probably work fine.

I bought these pants for hiking and casual wear. I have another pair of Columbia Titanium pants that are great for outdoor activities. I liked everything about these pants except the way they fit in the waist. The lenght was great, I'm 5'10". They were a little snug in the waist compared to my other titanium pants in the same size. I returned them because of this. I don't like snug when I'm hiking/camping. Too bad, it's a nice style and weight for warm weather.
