Comments about Gregory Advent Pro Pack:
I bought this pack based on the advice of a compatriot who is into ultralight packing. His experience is far different from my own. This pack has two pads on the back which are split about the lumbar level (lower back).
Why Gregory chose to do this is beyond my comprehension. Unless this pack is absolutly crammed full it bends at that point with the top and bottom halves digging into your lower back. In addition it seems to have an excess of straps to hold this, that, and the other thing most of which seem worthless. I couldn't give it away so now I use it on airplane trips as a carryon for books, overnight clothes etc. As a hiking pack it's lousy and has been replaced by an Osprey Atmos 35 which has none of the aforementioned problems and doesn't weight that much more.

Comments about Gregory Advent Pro Pack:
I've used this pack in a variety of environments including the upper Yosemite Valley and the Lost Coast Trail in California. The pack is pleasantly lightweight while still offering many features of heavier packs (Front Loading, and Sleeping Bag Compartment). Although the lack of a rigid frame makes the pack flimsy with very small loads, when amply loaded, the pack is super comfortable. The big pocketes on the hip-belt are perfect for a storage of those little snacks that keep you going. The front pocket is also perfect for quick access to rain gear or first aid kit.
