Used this helmet for two years now. Great ventilation on those hot and very humid Virginia days. The vents are huge and let just about as much air as possible flow throught it. It definitely looks stylish. As for protection, I don't have personal experience, but my friend crashed hard, hitting his head on the pavement and the helmet did exactly what it was supposed to. It cracked in a couple places and absorbed the impact - in fact, he said he barely felt it.

I think the one drawback is price. You could buy three helments for the price of the Atmos.

My first Atmos was destroyed in the process of saving my bean! Extremely comfortable, well ventilated, light, looks sharp and IT WORKS as designed. Ain't cheap but one item you don't want to skimp on.

Just replaced my Pneumo. More airflow was really noticeable on a 40+ mph downhill. Giro/Bell were great about replacing pads (twice) and broken Roc-Lock on the Pneumo (even though it was my fault). Only flaw: hard to get the forward ear straps to lay flat against my cheek. Hopefully the sweat/wash cycle will soften it up. Light weight & ventilation makes it disappear, especially on long rides. Best helmet out there, at least for now.

    I've been a fan of Giro helmets for years and it amazes me that they keep getting better. Lately the Boreas->Pneumo->Atmos refinements have been great, and I guess somehow they'll probably improve on this one too but I don't know how. Light, comfy, airy, and you can often even scratch an itch through one of the many large vents.

      Did the job for me -- worth the price. After being hit by a car, I had a broken scapula and clavicle, and concussion (remember no details of the crash). I believe the fit and construction of the Atmos saved me from more severe injury. Giro offers an inspection service and discounts replacement.

      Emulating my hero Lance, I sprang for this top of the line helmet about 3 years ago. The spindly fit system has since day one been very uncomfortable and causes headaches. My prior Giro Eclipse was super comfortable, not quite as well vented as the Atmos, but very good. But its plastic straps broke at a very thin spot (poor design). I called Giro to get a replacement liner, and they don't make the Eclipse and have no other liner to offer, not even the original one. And nothing to fix the Atmos either. So...I'm never buying a Giro helmet again, their service was quite indifferent, and they don't stock parts for legacy helmets.

      I picked up the Giro Atmos, because I wanted a lightweight, comfortable, performance oriented helmet, with good ventilation. The Atmos has lived up to all of these expectations. I've been very happy with its performance. My only grip is that it is really expensive. Especially since all helmets have the same crash proof rating. If you have the money, feel free to pick up this model. You wont be disappointed. Otherwise, you might want to find a model that fits in a more economical price range.

        I ride almost everyday on city and back roads. It is light weight and well vented keeping you cool. The locking system in back is easy to use and snugs up the helment to your head. The fit was great just measure your head dia. per directions and pick the right size for you.
        It was a life saver as I recently fell down bumping my head to the cement. It protected my head from major injury. The helmet was only slightly scratched holding up to the test. Giro makes excellent helmets.
        This is my second helmet as I upgraded an older model for this newer more vented model. Went with the pink/whiter version. VERY STYLISH!!

          Excellent fit and very light...price is justified considering it is an excellent protection for the most precious part of your cycling experience...your head.

          Don't take my word for it...go to the store and try it on and test it...

          If you decide to get this excellent product, I suggest also getting a helmet pod to protect your head gear
