I had these for maybe 2 months, and they were fine. Then one day I squatted to pick up something on the floor, and they split WIDE open down the middle.
I took them back to REI, the folks there were great and replaced them free.
I've had the new pair for maybe 2 weeks. The other day, I tried to sit cross-legged, and I hear these pants start to rip, exactly the same way my first pair did.
So, I don't recommend these! They're too fragile around the seams.

These pants are terrifically comfortable, especially after some hard wear and a few washes. I wore them for three weeks in Europe, and they were perfect for every occasion: hiking, traveling, biking and presenting work at professional conferences. They were crammed in a backpack, folded in a briefcase, washed in hotel sinks and danced in. At some point, the snap on the fly broke, but I think it was a fluke. I'm returning them and getting another two pairs soon.

If you are needing something for hiking or for the more rugged outdoors, pick something else. These pants are great for just wearing around the house or out to work or school or get some icecream. I wouldnt recommend you purchase these and take them out for too much rough outdoors. I got a huge hole in them and got really frustrated. They are super comfortable. They really move with you. If only they were a little bit more on the rugged side. Just remember: casual wear only.

I bought these pants primarily for work pants but they require far too much work to be used as such. I've washed and dried these things every which way from Sunday, and they Always come out a massive, Deeply wrinkled mess. Now, I work in a Very casual environment and non-ironed clothing is the norm, but I feel self-conscious with just How wrinkled these pants get. Even when they are ironed, a few hours of sitting somewhere will cause the whole front of the pants to form wrinkles running horizontal.

I really like the cut/fit of the pants, the material seems like it'll wear well, the cell and zip pocket are great ~ but when you look a total slob in them after just a couple hours of wear all of that doesn't matter.

For reference on my idea of "slob", please note that I sport a full beard, live in rural Wyoming and can come to work in Jeans or Carhartts if I wanted. I'm a long way from being a "polished" city person. These would be a nearly perfect pant if they were made of a more wrinkle-resistant fabric.

Love these pants. I have lived in Peru for two months and have two pairs. I wear them everyday. I have a dark and light pair. the darker ones i can wear for many days without washing. i am buying another pair right now. I love the zipper pocket. I carry large amounts of money in it and feel very secure.

I wore these to work, and rode my commuter bike about 2 miles to get there. After a few months (if that), the fabric on the insides of the thighs wore thin and then ripped when I squatted down.

They were incredibly comfortable, so it's a shame that they don't last long enough to be worth the trip to buy them.

I replaced them with similar pants from North Face, which have lasted a couple of years now. I am surprised that Columbia is still selling these! The North Face pants were unfortunately discontinued.

I didn't like these pants after my first 2 pairs ripped apart bizarrely quickly. But, I received a new pair of these guys as a gift at the end of December, so I decided to give them one more shot. It is now mid-February, and they are already on their last legs. I estimate I've worn them 12 times in total. The snap on the fly is broken, the fabric in the crotch area has started to fray & split, and the stitching on the seams is going as well.
These are the cheapest pants you can get at REI. I'd say you get what you pay for, but I'm not sure you get even that much from these pants. At least REI is good about replacing them...

Seems to be a bad choice on my part. Snap poped off first time worn. I like the way they feel and a good choice for winter layers are needed. I will right more when im worn them a few months.

I have had two pair of these pants and they keep on splitting in the rear end and crotch area. I think this is due to the direction that the fabric runs. They are very comfortable and versatile but not durable.
