Comments about REI Slickrock 3/4-Length Pants - Men's:
I bought these for rock climbing, since I didn't want to deal with rolling up pant legs all the time, and I don't like climbing in shorts (knees get banged up). Bought these, and they are a great value. Material is good and comfy. Uses recycled plastics too, nice. The cargo pockets rock...low profile, but have a vent/slit that expands out if you need to fill them up.
Overall though, I will return them, as I am picky and they are not for me. Minor things that I would overlook:
-Waist pockets are slightly too shallow, allowing your cell phone or keys to drop out after sitting.
-Sizing runs slightly big. Usually I go for pants labeled 31-32" waist. With these, I had to buy 30" and still had a slight amount of slack and needed a belt to keep them up.
The main reason why I will return them is the pant legs are too baggy. They don't get in the way, but it does look a bit ridiculous, almost like bell bottom capris. I am 5'11", 155", and usually wear 32"x30" pants. Yep, these pant legs are too wide for me. The length is good, on the shorter side, resting about 2/3 up the shin.
My alternative that I like better is the Mountain Hardwear Basin 3/4 leg pant. Slimmer in the legs then the Slickrock, which I like. Basin leg length rests at about 1/2 way up the shin. The Basin also has a drawstring in the leg cuff, so you can slim the leg up. The Slickrock pants could benefit by having this, especially with the wider legs.
Bottom line, if you like the fit and don't mind wide legs, they are good pants. But if you are a skinny person like me, you might find them to be too baggy.

Comments about REI Slickrock 3/4-Length Pants - Men's:
I wear these almost every day of the year for my commute to work. Having covered knees but exposed lower legs is very temperature-flexible for those 50 degree mornings with 80 degree afternoons. They breathe and wick better than cotton, and certainly dry faster, but won't blow you away with their performance. However they drape well and don't look ridiculous off-bike. They are also super durable - i went down and slid on my thigh for about 20 feet on ice, but there isn't a mark anywhere on the pants.
Sizing is generous - normally i wear 32s but had to get these in 30s for a good fit.
These strike a good balance between fashion and utiilty, and are great quality for the money. I dig the colors available but would really like a khaki (or similar) option. On my monitor the colors look a bit off compared to actual: "Steel" has some plum in it, and "Oyster" leans toward olive.

Comments about REI Slickrock 3/4-Length Pants - Men's:
These REI pants are wonderful! I have bought athletic shorts and pants in the past, and these are by far the most comfortable, breathable, and stylish pants I have found. Great for rock climbing since they are 3/4 length they protect your knees from the rock face. They are also made with earth friendly materials, you can't get much better than that! Well, maybe if they were made in the USA. Compared to NorthFace, Kuhl, Prana, Marmot, these pants are superior...nice work REI!

I ride a recumbent and these could not be better for anything but the hottest days. For cooler days, they're cozy with long wool socks. Waist size is an inch or two larger than stated. The cuff is a little floppy and billowed in a head wind and picked up chain schmutz until I opened the hem seams and ran shock cord around the cuffs. Now they're perfect.

Comments about REI Slickrock 3/4-Length Pants - Men's:
The most important thing for the online buyer to be aware of is that the waist size on these trousers is extremely generous. My 30" feel more like 32". Perhaps REI are trying to make plump people feel better about themselves, but not so clever in the online environment. I'd like the trousers to be a little narrower in the leg, but that's just a personal preference. My only other criticism is that the fasten button is poorly stitched, and came off after just a few wears.
Those negatives aside, these are a great pair of casual strides. Cool and comfortable, they're excellent for cycling / climbing / just hanging about in. I'll be using them all summer, enjoying plenty of cream cakes without worrying about outgrowing the waist.

Comments about REI Slickrock 3/4-Length Pants - Men's:
I bought a pair of these in September. Based on comments at the time I ordered a size smaller than normal and the reviews were right. These pants USED to run large (I wear a 36, had to order a 34). Just bought another pair at the end of May because they were the most comfortable pants I own. I again ordered a 34, but now I'm swapping them for a 36. Somewhere in the last 8 months REI has corrected the sizes (which I think is a good thing, since I live two hours from the closest brick & mortar REI). For the hottest part of the year (I'm in AL, it was 95 degrees today) the lighter Patagonia Borderless shorts are my first choice (but they are more expensive), but from about 75 degrees down to 55 I want my Slickrocks. SUPER comfortable.

Comments about REI Slickrock 3/4-Length Pants - Men's:
What can I say?! These are the greatest pants I've ever owned. I was going to throw some DWR on them, but they are mildly water resistant as they are. And they dry SO fast. I like that they are ecosensitive as well as ridiculously comfortable. I just call them long shorts, don't call them manpris unless you want to be laughed at. I wear them all the time, I need to get more of them. The only problem? I want more color options. Other than that, you will NOT be sorry you bought these shorts, others complain that they are too wide at the bottom, well if they weren't, then they wouldn't breathe as well. Personally, I think it's almost perfect. Only people with daisy duke legs are going to think they are too wide. If you have those legs, then you should hide them or go to the gym.

Comments about REI Slickrock 3/4-Length Pants - Men's:
I wear these for pretty much everything except work. Geez, I wish I could wear them to work. Other people have had problems with fit, but they seem right to me, I ordered a 32 because other reviews said I should order a size down. I'm a 33, and lo and behold, these feel pretty tight. So now these pants are for motivation. But that doesn't change how great they are. Super lightweight, very versatile, dries super fast, and is very soft on the skin too. I should get another pair.

Comments about REI Slickrock 3/4-Length Pants - Men's:
These are great for climbing. They are just the right length and the waist fits true to size. The cargo pockets are set at an angle so you can get into them more easily if you are sitting in your harness while tied in and hanging (This is a huge plus to me). A number of other reviews say the waist is sized larger than indicated but that wasn't the case for mine. Maybe they've re-sized them.
There is just one issue with these. They look really odd. I wear them anyway since i'm climbing, it doesn't really matter. But if you're self conscious at all then these pants will make you feel uncomfortable.

Comments about REI Slickrock 3/4-Length Pants - Men's:
REI seems to have updated these in 2010.
The waist size on a recent purchase was still a bit loose, but much truer to size.
The taper at the end of the legs (something I thought REI did very well compared to other companies' 3/4 pants) is gone and the bottoms sort of bell out a bit. I think it looks goofy, but it may give a little more movement freedom.
The front pockets which angled toward the crotch seem to shoot straight down now which will make using them for bulkier items a bit fidgety.
No doubt they are still solid, but I was a bit disappointed by the changes aside from the waist sizing.
