We mingled functionality with ecoSensitive™ materials when constructing the sturdy REI Slickrock pants with a 34 in. inseam for all-season comfort.
- Plated fabric blends the soft, breathable elements of organic cotton on the outside with smooth and quick-drying recycled polyester on the inside
- Organic cotton is grown without the use of toxic pesticides
- Use of recycled PET polyester helps reduce oil consumption and air emissions
- Plenty of storage in 2 front pockets, right hip key pocket, 2 cargo pockets with mesh sides and 2 back pockets
- Cargo and back pockets have rip-and-stick flap closures for security; right cargo pocket features an internal pocket for your cell phone
- Pliable mesh-lined waistband reduces chafing
- A roomy cut and heavily stone-washed fabric give extra softness and comfort
- Fabric provides UPF 50+ sun protection, shielding skin from harmful ultraviolet rays

I seriously love these pants, and have owned about 6-7 pairs over the years.They fit great, are incredibly comfortable, the pockets are awesome for carrying things (I'm a photographer and use them all.), and they dry quick if they get yet.HOWEVER, I am dismayed at REI's decisions to limit the number of colors for these pants and to discriminate against those with 34" inseam. For example the Bronze and Oyster colors that I received many compliments on are no longer available, and the 34" inseam is only available in one color (at one point there were NO 34" inseam available in my size 36" waist.)From reading the reviews for this size and the other sizes I know I am not alone in wanting more colors / selection. These are NOT some obscure paints that would only appeal to a small market, or go out of fashion quickly. [...]

These are incredible pants. Sure, they're expensive, but they seem to last forever (mine look just like new after several cycles through a washing machine at work that turned my t-shirts into rags), they have pockets everywhere for your tools and equipment (and I didn't poke a hole in the pockets even with a sharpened trowel), and they're environmentally friendly. Good stuff!

I absolutely love these pants. I was just shocked this spring when I wanted to get another pair and they were no longer available. :( These pants have been the best fitting hiking pants I have ever found. Most are not comfortable and while the slickrock pants have some cotton in them, they seem to dry fairly quickly due to the lightweight nature of the pants. The polyester seems to give them a good amount of durability, but my long hiking and camping trips are starting to wear out the few pairs I have. REI PLEASE BRING THESE PANTS BACK!!!!!!

I love these pants look, fit and feel. I get a lot of compliments on how they look. I bought a bronze colored pair of pants and a bronze colored pair of the shorts last year (2009). I wanted other colors but they didn't have any in my size.
REI please sell more sizes and colors!!!!! However, I would buy more 32/30 and they fit great. I wanted to try on a 33/30 but they didn't have them.

I got these last year during the dividend sale for the annual Canyon backcountry trip. On the second day in, while stepping over a small limestone boulder, the baggy cuff caught on a point and they tore open from seam to seam with a sickening rrrrrrrrip. So much for the "leg armor" you want for trail-less Esplanade travel. I've wouldn't consider carrying a spare pair of pants out there but at least I had duct tape and a sewing kit.
So my buddy chortles: "Where do they expect people to wear those pants, the movies?" He had a point: they would be comfy while sipping a brew or having the morning java in town. But I sure couldn't recommend them for serious hiking wear.
