We mingled functionality with ecoSensitive™ materials when constructing the sturdy REI Slickrock pants with a 32 in. inseam for all-season comfort.

Plated fabric blends the soft, breathable elements of organic cotton on the outside with smooth and quick-drying recycled polyester on the inside
Organic cotton is grown without the use of toxic pesticides
Post-consumer recycled PET polyester is tough enough to endure the daily grind
Plenty of storage in 2 front pockets, right hip key pocket, 2 cargo pockets with mesh sides and 2 back pockets
Cargo and back pockets have rip-and-stick flap closures for security; right cargo pocket features an internal pocket for your cell phone
Pliable mesh-lined waistband reduces chafing

Thank You REI for making them another year. Yup been on these pants and shorts since day one. The pants work… Do not need ironing, cargo pockets that stay flat, cell phone pocket is a better invention the coin pocket and the wallet will never hit my back pocket again. Do good at the office, do good on the trail and that’s to include running with loaded cargo pockets. Made of organic cotton, recycle plastic and hold up like a good pair of jeans. Oh yeah, REI did not cut corners, six belt loops and it’s a palm crack berry pocket really… Have fun out there.

These are great pants. I work in West Africa in the development aid sector and these pants are comfortable and hold up well in the harsh conditions here--they are good for hiking and travelling. Highly recommended.

From the point of view of comfort and quality they are a clear five-star product. However the range of colors is poor and the dyes themselves run. The brown pair I have, after only three or four washes, started to go pink.

I work in the jungles of Belize and these are the only pants I will use. They are durable enough to stand up to months in one of the toughest jungles anywhere, but look good enough that I wear them to give presentations at national conferences. They are light weight and are comfortable to wear even in humid 100 degree climates.

After months of use in the jungle, the only mark on any of any pairs of these pants is a tiny hole where I caught the pant with the edge of my machete while sharpening it. This hole did not spread even with heavy use for another 2 months. Very impressive pair of pants and well worth every penny.

Very comfortable pants with soft broken in fabric. The problem arose when I snagged a corner of the side cargo pocket on a branch and the stitching came apart. So if you were wearing these around town only they are great, just don't expect them to stand up to the outdoors. I usually wear 32 inseam pants but these were a little long.

These are my new favorite pants! Great look and fit in my opinion. I love the zipper access cargo pocket, perfect for my blackberry. I have the pants in the sesame and steel colors. I have the shorts in the bronze and oyster colors. REI: please, PLEASE make both the shorts and pants in more colors. If you do, I promise to buy more!

The material is lite enough for warm weather and heavy enough for cool weather. Being zip-offs they are suitable for hot weather. Strong material and construction, but a bit slow to dry.

Would like to see more colors.

After reading the reviews here I went ahead and bought a pair. They are my new anytime pants and have met my expectations and then some. Fabric is soft and flows with your body movements and fit is baggy enough that I don't feel restricted in any position. They don't shrink upon washing and even though they are lightweight they seem sturdy and well-constructed, though time will have to tell on that front. Highly recommended.

I use these pants in office, construction site, hiking, climbing, glissading.
All activities are advisable with these pants, except for glissading. Even with an outer layer over seat of pants, with the great amount of friction on the snow, stress on material was quite evident.
In summary: great "all-purpose" pants, but be cautious with durability.
A picky observation on pocket design,but worthy of mentioning to "R&D" Dept of this pant. The pleated side pockets are designed "backwards" so that the pleats catch underbrush, while hiking through the wooded areas. Suggestion: reverse the design, so that the flap between the messh and the material is on the "trailing edge" not the "leading edge". Hope this makes sense.
Again, all-around great pant. It's my fourth pair.
