Comments about REI Lite-Core Sit Pad:

This inflatable seat was absolutely the best product I brought with me on my recent trip to Walt Disney World. It is very light, inflates and deflates in seconds and packs small. It makes sitting on hard cement, stadium benches, and just about anywhere else comfortable and enjoyable. It is so convenient that I used it even more than I thought I would.

Comments about REI Lite-Core Sit Pad:

I picked up this product on sale because I had a few bucks left on a gift card. Even though I bought it on a whim, it has turned out to be an essential piece of gear for hiking. The fact that the nozzle is larger than competing products or that it requires an extra breath of air to fully inflate does not detract from it's price or comfort. This product has saved my butt from the certain discomfort of stiff airport seating to mountain peaks and everywhere in between.

Comments about REI Lite-Core Sit Pad:

I seldom write reviews, but this is the best purchase I've made in outdoor gear. I've had one for my wife and for myself for two years now and have nothing but praise for its performance and durability. We dayhike at least once a week in the Sierras, and every good lunch spot is abrasive granite or sticks and pine cones. These seats are tough. It's true that they don't self-inflate, but it only takes two good puffs to fully inflate. I can only surmise that those who have had trouble with the valves don't turn them all the way. They "pop" into closed position kind of like a plastic snap. I can enthusiastically recommend these to anyone who enjoys a comfortable seat in the outdoors.

Comments about REI Lite-Core Sit Pad:

This pad worked great the first day, after that it lost all it's air within an hour of inflating - and the pad was only used as a back cushion, not even as a seat cushion.. Unfortunately, I had to return it to the store. Will try a real Thermarest pad next year.

Comments about REI Lite-Core Sit Pad:

On a hiking trip up to Sandstone Peak in Southern California, I was disappointed that after reaching the summit, wanting to sit for a bit and enjoy the views, I could not find a smooth spot to perch upon. The view was fabulous, but very soon our bottoms had enough of the jagged rock. Shortly after, I saw this at REI and thought this was a brilliant invention! I owned a Therma Rest sleep pad but had no idea these seat cushions existed! I purchased this seat and now always take it hiking. Recently I went back to Sandstone Peak and had a great sit! :)

Comments about REI Lite-Core Sit Pad:

I am Buddhist and have been invited to many Buddhist gatherings and ceremonies where you are sitting for quite some time, usually on a hard floor or rough textured carpet or surface.
This self inflating (loose knit term actually needs a little help to blow it up tight) is the perfect thing to use when attending the extended talks and meditations. Also, it is much less expensive than other inflatable products I have shopped for from online Buddhist item stores. It packs easily and is small enough to toss into the glove compartment or your day pack.

Comments about REI Lite-Core Sit Pad:

This was a disappointment. I also own Thermarest Sport Seats and Thermarest Back Pillows. This item fails to self-inflate after half an hour. In addition, the valve is much larger than the comparable Thermarest products. Thermarest no longer makes the Sport Seat, but the "Trail Seat" is most likely a superior product to this product, and available at a comparable price.

If you want a cushion that you blow up, this is ok, though you can probably just get a cheap vinyl one somewhere. If you want a self-inflating cushion that really self-inflates, get something else.

BTW, the one I got was made in Taiwan. If this is supplied by more than one vendor, this might not describe the other vendors' products.

Comments about REI Lite-Core Sit Pad:

You can usually find something reasonable to lean back against, so a seat cushion is often all you need to be comfortable. This is light, and saves your mattress from doing double duty in a chair.
