Comments about REI Mojave +15 Sleeping Bag - Regular:
I like REI a lot and I've liked this bag up to this point, but I will never again take this bag if there is a possibility of 32 F degree or less, without also taking a quilt or warm inner bag. In mid-Oct, I used this bag for a 1-night backpacking trip (Bear Mountain/Harriman SP, NY) when it reached 33 degree F, dry, with 6-10 mph wind (using REI's Half Dome tent plus torso-length sleeping mat). Inside the bag, I wore silk weight tops and bottoms, plus mid-weight fleece tops and bottoms plus thin and thick wool socks plus gloves plus fleece hat (and skullcap liner) plus mid-weight synth jacket plus REI's basic thin bag liner. The bag is rated to 15+, so I would have expected to be more than warm, but instead was cold to the point of shivering. There was also significant draft through the zipper (stopped with an emergency reflective blanket along the side of the bag). My wife has the Women's version, rated to 10+. Wearing one fewer layer than I, she was comfortable and happy. I am aware that I sleep on the cold side, but I wanted to write this review as a strong caution to others who sleep on the cold side.

Comments about REI Mojave +15 Sleeping Bag - Regular:
I've had this sleeping bag for 3 years now. I've used it mostly for car camping, but recently have started back country camping. Have never spent a cold night in this sleeping bag, including two trips to 11,000 feet in the Colorado Rockies. Very light weight makes it ideal for backpacking.
One concern I'm having is that the bag tends to leak down feathers. There are no discernible tears, the feathers just seem to poke through. At current rates, I'll be out of feathers in a year or two. I'm going to contact REI to see what they recommend.

Comments about REI Mojave +15 Sleeping Bag - Regular:
I don't usually take time to review gear, but I am really happy with this bag so far. This is a great bag for the money! I have owned it for a year and have used it through the winter here in GA, and it hasn't let me down. I am a cold sleeper, but I spent 2 nights in Shining Rock WA in NC with temps in the teens and, sleeping with mid weight base layer stayed warm all night. On another trip to NC the temps were in the 30's and I had to unzip once in the night to vent some heat(had my mid weights on again). The zipper does snag a bit, but, with a little patience it isn't that bad...I'm not gonna complain for under $200.00!! The weight was another big factor for me. I am a photographer and carry quite a bit of camera gear on top of all the camping gear, so ,at close to 2 lbs, its also hard to beat. I do think if warmth were a bigger concern the REI Kilo bag would be my first choice, but, for my criteria, I would buy the Mojave again in a minute. See 'ya on the trail, in front of the lens, or both.

Comments about REI Mojave +15 Sleeping Bag - Regular:
Used this sleeping bag most recently on a 6-day backpacking trip in Rocky Mtn NP. Late Sept temp ranges from 60 to 30-ish between 8000 to 11500 ft. Bag is relatively light-weight and can be compressed down to about the size of a football which makes packing a snap even in a medium sized daypack for you fast-movers. Zipper is fine and shell is of course DWR coated, yadda, yadda.
The biggest problem I had with this bag (read as: DEAL BREAKER)was that its dimensions are apparently designed to fit the most mal-nourished and slight of build backpackers. I have fairly broad shoulders and found myself feeling trapped while changing position during the night. Binding up inside the bag caused the down to be compressed which resulted in me FREEZING during a mild 35-degree night. Not acceptable for a unisex bag with a 15-degree rating.
The baffling system sewn into the bag apparently DOES leave thin spots and full spots further aggravating the cold issues I experienced.
The stuff sack was pretty good tho!

Comments about REI Mojave +15 Sleeping Bag - Regular:
I used this sleeping bag for short backpacking trips, and some car camping. This bag is very light and can compresses down to use only about half of the stuff sack provided. Sleeping outside I felt warm and toasty, and the morning dew didn't soak through to get the down wet. I did not like the hood; it was pretty light on insulation. My biggest problem with the Mojave was its overall durability. Every time I pulled it out of the stuff sack feathers would fluff out from all over, not just from the seams. In the mornings I would find feathers lodged into my clothes as well. I exchanged it for a different model.

I purchased this bag after a friend purchased the Marmot +15 bag. I was going to buy the Marmot but found this bag to have most of the same specs and at a better price. I am able to stuff this bag very small, about 8 by 4 inch. Only complaint, is that the zipper does snag but no more than any other down bag I have used. Has kept me very warm. Super light. Going to buy one for my girl friend now.

Comments about REI Mojave +15 Sleeping Bag - Regular:
This bag is great for the price. I bought it for summer camping trips where I wanted a light and warm bag. This bag was it. Sometimes would need to unzip to vent because it was too warm. Overall the bag packed well, although a compression strap would have been a very welcomed addition. Cons are as the other reviewers have said, the zipper snags easily along the side and catches on the fabric flap that follows the zipper. A minor meh for an otherwise good bag.

Comments about REI Mojave +15 Sleeping Bag - Regular:
I have always had a cheap sleeping bag, and never paid more than 30 bucks. No wonder I never liked my sleeping bags. My husband and I each bought one of these bags and we just love them. I am a big baby when it comes to being cold. We camped our first night in our new bags at Lassen National Volcanic Park. The elevation was around 6,000 feet, and it got down to 30 degrees F. I did not feel the cold until I had to leave the warmth of my new best friend, my sleeping bag. I did find zipping them together a bit tiresome cause the zipper would snag every once in a while. That is my only complaint so far.

Comments about REI Mojave +15 Sleeping Bag - Regular:
Versatile bag! I live in Phoenix and this is the only bag I use right now. I haven't had a cold night yet. The bag is form fitting but not claustrophobic. It has an adjustable hood and a zippered pocket right by the right shoulder for a watch with an alarm. The hood is adequate for a small compressable pillow (I use the medium thermarest pillow) and has loops to secure it to a sleeping pad. My only complaint is the zipper gets snagged a little more often than I would like. It hasn't torn the bag around the zipper (yet....knock wood) but it can be frustrating when you are trying to get out of it for a bathroom break in the middle of the night. Otherwise, great product!

Comments about REI Mojave +15 Sleeping Bag - Regular:
This is a comfortable bag at a great price. I like to sleep on my side, curled up and this bag accomadates me. I have only sleeped in it in temps down to 35*F and had to unzip it at times to cool off so it should be fine at much lower temps. Overall I really like this bag and would give it a five it I knew the temp ratings were accurate. Will have to wait for winter for that.
