Comments about Black Diamond Reactor Ice Tool:
Having owned these tools for just over one season, they have performed very well. Typically, I am climbing waterfall ice in Colorado up to WI 4 at Mt. Lincoln, Rocky Mtn. Nat. Park - Hidden Falls, Leadville, Silver Plum, and Boulder Canyon. I just tried them out on lead recently, and was pleased at the performance, so that I could release the tool with confidence. The width of the handle allows for heavier gloves on cold days. A nice feature is the angle of the flange/bevels - they seem to be just right so you can flick the tool high above you for long reaches. Considerate lease/cordalette clipping holes at the top and bottom of the shaft provide a safety backup on long climbs.
I tried many of the top tools on a demo basis before I bought the BD Reactors. They were definitely the best available tools at their price point.

Comments about Black Diamond Reactor Ice Tool:
This is a great all around tool. The grip is comfortable enough to hold on to all day. It's also offset enough to protect the knuckles from bulging ice. The head swings easily and has a great feel connecting to ice. Unfortunately the shaft isn't curved enough to reach around bulges very well but still has enough curve for an aggressive pick angle. Great tool for pure ice but can handle a little easy dry tooling.
