Comments about REI Quarter Dome 3 UL Tent:
It's a great tent although setting up the floor thingy is a challenge. It's an irrengular pentagon, but only slightly, so aligning tent with under-thingy always slows us down, as does a hard-to-remember order of operations. A couple of guide markings and better sewn-in instructions and this epic tent would be 'legendary'.

Comments about REI Quarter Dome 3 UL Tent:
After reviewing a few options, we settled on this tent for its weight and 3-person rating (knowing that only two of us would be using it).
The tent surely performed beyond expectation. It packs compactly enough and set up takes just a few minutes. I love the Dead End pole sleeves and the two door-vestibule design. It was roomy enough to sleep two of us as well as tall enough for us to comfortably sit up with good ventilation. we could also store a few personal items and some clothing at the sides or the head/foot of the tent when sleeping at nigh. Through a rather rainy night, the fly and the foot print (sold separately) provided good protection. We did notice a few damp spots in the morning, but I suspect it was more to do with condensation than the rain. After the rainy night, it dries pretty quickly.
As with the other tents that we considered, I think a n-person tent is actually suitable for n-1 people, which is why we found this tent perfect for the two of us. Also, if you are taller than 5'10'', you should make sure you can comfortably get in and out as well as lay in the tent before you buy.

Quick and easy set up with ability to leave rainfly attached for quick setup in rain. Little small inside, but that comes with the light weight!

Comments about REI Quarter Dome 3 UL Tent:
This tent sleeps 2 people very comfortably. The storage pockets on the inside are an added convenience. The rain fly kept the tent dry inside after heavy dew. Packing up the tent is as easy as setting it up!

Comments about REI Quarter Dome 3 UL Tent:
I haven't purchased a new tent in over 10 years. I have been using a Peak 1 Aries 2 person tent for all that time. (Not that I am a Coleman fan) but the tent just couldn't be beat for one person. Now married I needed more room and wanted to keep it light weight since I would be the one carrying it. The QD3 is the perfect tent, I even choose it over the MSR Mutha Hubba, because of the vestibule size and because of the room (wife and Dog) I agree with most of the other reviews that 3 people my size are not getting in that tent comfortably, but my wife, myself and a 45 pound dog fit just fine! Wonderful tent and the price cannot be beat!

Comments about REI Quarter Dome 3 UL Tent:
this replaced an old sierra designs 3 person tent and it was used in anger in the great outdoors downunder this week and passed with flying colours in the persistent rain we experienced/ we purchased a footprint to suit at the same time and once connected to the floor it remains there/ a great tent-

Comments about REI Quarter Dome 3 UL Tent:
It's a bit bulky for backpacking. I had to leave the stuff bag out and separate the tent in 2 smaller sacks.
Considering the size and the comfort of the tent, the weight is bearable.
The QuaterDome 2 UL is a great option if you have 2 people.
This tent is to do some backpacking in style :)

Comments about REI Quarter Dome 3 UL Tent:
As a bicycle tourist, I look for roomy tents that are reasonable to pack on a bike at a good price compared to when I backpack, when weight is a major consideration. The Quarter Dome (QD) UL3 proved perfect for our lastest 3 week bicycle tour. Compared to our previous 3 week bike tour when we used the Half Dome HC, the QD has 5 more square feet. Given that my wife and I are both less than 5 ft. 6 inches tall, the extra 5 sqare feet is located where we needed it, at our sides. It is also 5.5 inches taller, allowing for easier changing of clothing. This was all accomplished with 3 less ounces of weight. It withstood some rather gusty winds and a couple of severe rainstorms. We were able to comfortably be in the tent without feeling cramped. Yes it is advertised as a "3" person tent, but one should buy tents based on the stated dimensions, not the advertisement. Given the improved carrying capacity of a bike (vs. back) this is the perfect 2-person tent, providing plenty of space without being too bulky for strapping on the rack of a bicycle.
