Comments about Gregory Jade 50 Pack - Women's:
Have only used this instead of duffel bags/luggage on trips. Used it for a 2.5 week adventure tour in Peru where it was being thrown around on different buses. Was glad that I had a backpack so I didn't have to drag luggage around on uneven roads. Was also small enough to bring onto a plane as a carryon when I removed my sleeping bag.
Weight was distributed very well and didn't feel awkward at all. The XS frame didn't overwhelm me which I was worried about when I was initially looking around for a backpack since I'm about 5' and I had actually tried a bunch of travel backpacks before deciding to look at backpacking backpacks to use as luggage since all the travel backpacks I tried didn't really quite fit my frame.
I just wish there was a bit more room sometimes since my sleeping bag was a bit bulky, maybe if I had a smaller down bag it would have been better. Overall, I really liked all the outside pockets where I could put snacks, travel journal, lip balm, and what have you.

Comments about Gregory Jade 50 Pack - Women's:
Nice pack but
1. The load straps at the shoulder do not pull the top part of the pack in enough
2. There are no straps on the back of the pack to hook your caribiner onto (if you want to carry shoes, crazy creek chair, ect on the outside of the pack)
3. There is only one strap on the bottom of the pack. So you can carry your sleeping bag, sleeping pad, or tent on the outside of the pack- but only ONE of those (maybe it's better for weight distribution to carry the rest inside the pack anyway; i don't know)
4. There are a zillion buckles and it is a pain to keep figuring out which ones go together. They should be color coded or something
Love the...
1. Waist pockets
2. Light weight
3. hidration sleeve
4. comfort
5. Open pocket on the back (that can fit sunscreen, maps, etc)

Comments about Gregory Jade 50 Pack - Women's:
I used this backpack on the second half of my hike on the Appalachian Trail for roughly three months. The zipper on the waistbelt pocket immediately broke, so I returned the pack for a replacement through my outfitter. The pack performed reasonably well, though at times it was hard to make it all that comfortable, esp with the extra weight of a resupply. The hip buckle I thought was too flimsy and had it replaced with something more sturdier. I liked the different pockets as I am an organized person. This is a great pack for summer excursions but would not be big enough for winter unless you go with another to help carry a tent, etc., and you use a down bag that compresses well.

This is a light weight pack with excellent breathability for a not-so-sweaty back. I could load this pack up for a 4-dayer and feel perfectly comfortable. Also a great for winter dayhikes and long summer days with lots of gear.

Comments about Gregory Jade 50 Pack - Women's:
I took this on a 3 month trip to SE Asia and had plenty of room for cloths, maps and goodies from local markets. I like to pack light for long periods of time, but still have room and this was a great pack. It was also very comfortable all around and it was well ventilated along my back in muggy countries. A great pack for women travelers!

My girlfriend's first pack. She could hardly feel a load once we got it situated and adjusted correctly. Easy and unique access to plenty of pockets. Very breathable on the back. Good for weekend backpacking with a medium/large load.

Comments about Gregory Jade 50 Pack - Women's:
I had trouble finding bags that would fit my torso and also would be comfortable in the shoulders. Most of the female packs still cut into my shoulder or were too big for me.
However this was by far the best. A good amount of straps that allows you to cinch the bag down but not too many straps where you start losing track of which strap goes where. The fabric stretches so this bag can take a lot more than it originally appears and as well as room to expand vertically. The waistbelt straps are easily adjustable which is a must when you are on the go constantly. The waistbelt also has little pockets which is handy for small stuff.
There is a side zipper for the main compartment which for me personally didn't do very much. It's handy if you stow a jacket or something small on the side but it's hard to pull anything else out of there. Also there are additional side pockets on the bag that have an expandable zip capability. I haven't found anything useful for this yet.
Other than that, it's an awesome bag. I was able to take it as a carry on with no problems.

Comments about Gregory Jade 50 Pack - Women's:
This pack has survived over a week in Japan and then 3 weeks backpacking through Central America. It's been thrown on/off chicken buses and taken up/down mountains without many problems. It was also very comfortable when all loaded up and small enough that I could take it on the plane as carry-on if I wanted (I have the XS). By the end of the trip, it was packed to the max but still was comfortable. It held everything I wanted though I didn't have my sleeping bag/pad with me at the time. I liked the little pockets on the waist straps and the roomy pocket on top (perfect for stashing tickets, my Lonely Planet book, maps, sunblock, etc).
There are two extendable pocket on the front that I didn't really find a use for. The straps were a bit confusing sometimes and I've buckled it up incorrectly a few times when I was in a rush.
Great pack and I can't wait to use it again when I go backpacking.

The pack construction is excellent. This pack is great for days with extremes in weather and altitude. After trying so many packs it was a joy to wear one that fits perfectly and is so comfortable---this one is really tailored for women.

Comments about Gregory Jade 50 Pack - Women's:
I love this pack. I had a hard time finding a backpack that would fit my small frame and feel comfortable as well, without being too heavy or too big. I avoided this pack at first, thinking it was just too small for carrying my backpacking equipment. But after trying many others, like the Vapor Ki, which was lacking in features (no lid, very few organizing pockets) I gave it a shot. I'm glad I did. I did manage to pack what I needed, though it was stuffed full. I carried around 33 pounds with no problem. I love the little features like the pockets on the waistbelt for lipbalm and such, the fact that it is designed to carry a sleeping pad on the bottom of the pack, the zippered lid, the front zippered section as well as the clipped section where I can just stuff things in without zippers. I don't use a hydration system, so that allows me to use that extra space for other things as well. I like the elastic loops that pull over a water bottle to keep it from falling out of the side pockets. THe pack carried well and after a few miles I still felt comfortable with it rather than desperate to get it off. I would love it if they gave me just a few more cubic inches, as my sleeping bag takes up a lot of space in the pack. That's my one and only complaint. I wouldn't mind a bit of extra weight in exchange. Still, I would recommend this if you are looking for a lightweight, comfortable backpack.
