        This knife comes straight from the factory very sharp. It is lightweight and well balanced and the grip is phenomenal. I would recommend this to anyone who needs a solid backpacking knife.
        Only drawback - recently camped at a river site that was very sandy. The sheath was hard to clean out in the field and thus the blade had a little sand coating. Once I got home and gave the sheath a good rinse in the sink it was fine.

        Bottom Line Yes, I would recommend this to a friend

          This is 1 of 3 knives I've ordered via the REI website...and my favorite I do a lot of hiking on trails at multiple locations and this gives a good sense of protection, also { and mainly )
          it cleans fish and dresses game better than you'd expect! Get it and You'll see it's worth it
