An easy-carry fixed blade knife in MagnaCut steel with thoughtful details. The sheath is equally utilitarian but attractive in its symmetrical simplicity to quickly carry ambidextrously in my pocket or on my pack with peace of mind that it’s protected and secure. This is simply the most utilitarian and no nonsense of my Benchmade collection and has become the knife I keep on me most days as it performs exceptionally well and is easy to maintain.
This fixed blade in Magnacut steel is a perfect camp slicer and everyday carry, beautifully made and tempered, sharpens well on waterstones to a mirror polish, and is a joy to use. Problem: the molded sheath is indeed secure, but flimsy/inconsistent, and somewhat cheap-feeling for a knife at this level. I had a leather compression sheath made instead, by a Cali-based craftsman, which allows for consistent and silent deployment. Benchmade should consider the use of local artisans—as they do on some of the hunting blades. I am a long time admirer of their work; once they source a suitable discreet sheath, this knife is the future of pocket carry for outdoorsmen and hunters.
A no-nonsense EDC/ pocket carry fixed blade knife in Magnacut steel with thoughtful details and handsome to boot. The sheath is equally utilitarian but attractive in its symmetrical simplicity. I can carry in my pocket but mostly I attach ambidextrously on my pack waist belt with peace of mind that it’s protected and secure. Otherwise, it lives in my work bag. This is simply the most utilitarian and easy to clean of my Benchmade collection and has become the knife I most use second only to the Meatcrafter.
