Comments about Petzl Meteor III Climbing Helmet:
I bought this helmet recently for a class 3/class 4 climb up Mount Stuart in Washington. I was in debate whether I wanted to spend [$] on a helmet. I decided that most of my climbing is in the summer, and breathability would be great to have. This helmet is super-breathable and extremely light. I am glad I spent the extra [$] on this helmet as opposed to a heavier, less-breathable one. The only things that are less-than-ideal are -1. The velcro and glued linings inside are not glued super-well. Mine has been fine, but I noticed the sample in the store was falling apart a bit. It's just some of the velcro pieces. I was not too worried about it though, because you can always crazy glue the velcro back on once and for all if need be and it will be indestructible. I would not have this as a deterent at all to buy this helmet.2. Although this is not a fault of the helmet, it's worth mentioning. The way they get this helmet so light is because it uses compressed foam. For those of you that mountain or road bike, you know what I mean. It has that super-dense foam. Basic mountaineering helmets don't use this. They just use hard plastic. Like a bike helmet, if the Meteor III takes 1 hard impact, you need to trash it and get a new one (better the helmet than your head :)). Some say this is still the same case as the basic mountaineering helmets, but I don't know for sure. I have been careful when putting my pack down for breaks when the helmet is strapped to is to make sure it doesn't hit the ground hard. Again, this is not necessarily a con, because the reason the helmet is so light is because of the foam construction. Conclusion: Great helmet. 2 biggest benefits are 1) breathability (this is even more important than lighitweight f you ask me) and 2) Lightweight. The comfort makes the additional cost worht it. Definately a good purchase.

Comments about Petzl Meteor III Climbing Helmet:
Very, very light helmet. Breathes well, also big enough to fit a light, windstopper hat ( since it breathes well, it is also pretty cold in windy conditions ).
Overall good purchase. Only 4 stars because it seems a little bulkier than other helmets.

Comments about Petzl Meteor III Climbing Helmet:
This is the most comfortable helmet I've had: it fits my very large head easily but also adjusts well to be snug without banging around, which is annoying when you're climbing. It is nice and light and gets in the way less than other helmets I've tried, as well as being less hot. If you're in the market for foam helmets as opposed to the old-fashioned (possibly more durable?) shell ones, give this a go!

Comments about Petzl Meteor III Climbing Helmet:
Not the toughest helmet out there, but after putting this on I'll never use another. Its so light and breathable you dont even know your wearing it as you climb, but sure enough it'll keep you well protected from any falling rocks. The reflective white coloring keeps you nice and cool when the sun's beating its hardest.

Comments about Petzl Meteor III Climbing Helmet:
Great light weight helmet. All helmets are bulky, so anyway... I was deciding between this and the Black Diamond Tracer. Both are great helmets.
Pros to the Petzyl are that it has good protection padding and is very comfortable and the strap is very comfy, cons are it is a bit more bulky then the Black Diamond Tracer and that it takes a bit of adjusting to get it to where you like it and it does not seem to have as good of protection padding as the Black Diamond Tracer.
I am returning the Petzyl and sticking with the Black Diamnond Tracer as it is comfortable, better padding protection, less bulky even though the Black Diamond cons are the straps and helmet itself are not as comfortable as the Petzyl...
I choose Black Diamond Tracer for good comfort, good straps and most important excellent protection!
Protection wins over comfort, especially since the Black Diamond is still comfortable.
Bottom line:
Petzyl has good protection and excellent comfort.
Black Diamond Tracer has excellent protection and good comfort...

Comments about Petzl Meteor III Climbing Helmet:
This is a great, light helmet; you won't even feel that it's on your head! It is highly adjustable. My only complaint is that adjusting takes a bit longer than a helmet with an adjusting wheel.
