          I bought this vest out of concern about being seen easily when night riding. From the add, it appears to have a lot of reflective material, but the photo is very deceiving. The photo shows the front of the vest which is the only side to have the 3 horizontal reflective stripes. The back, where you are most vulnerable, has only one such stripe. It appears from the photo that there are large areas of silver reflective material near the outer edges and corners. In fact, there is only about 1 1/2 “ near the lower corners of the front panel. What you’re actually seeing is silver-colored fabric that does not reflect. On the back, there is one 4” horizontal reflective stripe and two 1/2" stripes near the shoulder. The only other thing that reflects is the piping bordering the silver-colored fabric. The size is ridiculous. It’s a “one size fits all” which is sized to comfortably fit a 10 year old like a vest should. I could barely get it over my head and the bottom of it came to about the bottom of my sternum. Looks like I put some little kid’s vest on. This falls into the category of being better than nothing, but for [$] you get about 50 cents worth of vest and safety enhancement. The only plus I can see to this is that it is lightweight, breathable, easily stowable, and appears to be mechanically well constructed. Might be OK for your kids if you put it on them backward.

          Bottom Line No, I would not recommend this to a friend

              I bought this before reading the reviews, but I hope I can save some people the waste of time. I never used it...This thing is ridiculously small and I wouldn't even attempt to wear it. Back it goes for a refund.

              The package and pictures are not deceiving as they show the item, but there's no model to show sizing. Most of us EXPECT this to fit adults.... It doesn't - unless you're a very thin, small "adult" under 4 feet tall. OK, perhaps you could push it to 4-1/2 feet tall, but that's it.

              This product should be avoided by "average" sized people, and if you're taller or heavier than average, you may have trouble getting this over your head and reaching your armpits...

              I have to fault REI for not putting this in the hobbits section...

                  The vest does not look like the pictures.(see earlier post) It doesn't matter anyway since you would have to be under 80 pounds to wear this thing. Once I got it over my head the waist was half way down my ribcage. Ridiculous product. Should be pulled off the shelves. You can do much better for much less.

                  By adjusting the strap I get this top to fit over a single layer elastane shirt or over a couple light jackets. I especially like the zippered pocket for storing a cup bottle of carbohydrate gel and a small bag of electrolyte tablets. I connect velcro to the shoulder tops and then wear a couple cross-shoulder 1 quart bottle straps velcro-attached to the vest. This makes for a very lightweight water-calorie-electrolyte transport system that is very convenient. I also attach my race number to the vest. The reflective nature of the vest I think of as an added feature. I have worn it for about a dozen 100 mile foot races now and it is starting to fray under the arms, but I plan to get lots more use out of it yet.

                    My husband got this as a gift for Christmas, and loves it. I just started running and tried it out today and it is great! The pocket up front works great for the MP3 player and my house keys. The sizing works great for me and my husband, both in the average size range. From reading the older comments about this vest, I would recommend trying it on first before buying, but I have found it to fit well.
