Comments about La Sportiva Cirque Pro Approach Shoes:
I used this shoe for a couple trips to JTree, one to Cochise Stronghold, and numerous approaches in the Sandia Mountains, NM. The shoe has good grip on dry rock. I felt I could climb 5.7/5.8 on face clims. Not sure I ever really tried it out with toe jams. Problem was, the seam on the side (inside) ripped out on both shoes within 3 months. I just lived with it since it did not affect the function of the shoe that much (and I'm lazy).

Comments about La Sportiva Cirque Pro Approach Shoes:
I hike a lot to get to a great spot, and the soles wore out very fast. I don't want to be getting new soles every 3/6 month! I've upgraded the soles and designed my own ones. Other than that I love the shoes. Their great narrow shape allows me to go up and down the boulders to set up ropes and anchors. Plus: great scramblers for high peaks!

Comments about La Sportiva Cirque Pro Approach Shoes:
These shoes are garbage. With laces tight, the shoe spun off my foot under steep conditions. I tested them on a joshua tree walk off and almost died because the shoes came off my feet. Thankfully I tested them in JT and did not wear them on a Yosemite 4th class descent. I would not wear these shoes, even if they were given to me.
The problem lies in the fact that the insole is too tall so that when you wear the shoe it feels like you are not in it and almost feels like you are standing on top of it. It is hard to describe but the shoe was very low around my ankle and the laces did not come up high enough. This is truely a low-top shoe, it is really low, lower than a typical sneaker style shoe even.
when walking on angled surfaces or when you are traversing rock, it felt like the shoe was going to spin off my foot. The rubber is very sticky but who cares when the shoe spins off your foot in steep conditions?
If you want to look cool or be a 'poser' at the bar, by all means go ahead and waste your money on these shoes. For 4th class descents where your life is at risk buy something that actualyl works as it is intended.
GARBAGE!

Comments about La Sportiva Cirque Pro Approach Shoes:
Have used these extensively on approaches & up to mid 5.10. Climb fine (lace up real tight) but very poor quality construction (esp for Sportiva). Toe rand evaporated after 40 ft in aiders!!! Stitching died in 2 mos on first pair and is now deteriorating on the free replacements. Looks good in the coffee shop, though. I only weigh 130 & most shoes last for me. Not these.

Comments about La Sportiva Cirque Pro Approach Shoes:
Very good approach shoes, precise, solid feel on the trail, amazing grip on the rock, wet or not, very good climbing up to hard 10s (so far) comfy enough, but not exaclty like sneakers, they are very stiff and the thin profile can be hard on your feet after a climbing day. Other than that, I love them.

Used them in Zion in the Narrows and the Subway which has rocks, hiking, and lots of water/swimming. Worked great!

Comments about La Sportiva Cirque Pro Approach Shoes:
A touch narrow for my feet, and maybe a tad to the warm side. But quite comfortable. Sticks well. My foot doesn't slide around while on a traverse or hopping through scree/talus.

Used these on a Grand Teton climb. they were fine on the trail, and had good traction on the granite. however I found the upper portion too soft which caused my feet to move too much in the shoe.

Comments about La Sportiva Cirque Pro Approach Shoes:
This shoe feels like a climbing shoe, but it's comfortable as a sneaker. It is rigid of course, but not enough to stop you from smearing some 10a or climb up to easy 11 face climbs, if the footwork is not too complex.
They are fairly comfortable for an approach shoe, the lacing system is perfect, same as the Mythos. They offer very good support and very stable on gravel / steep dirt trails.
A Gore-Tex cover instead of leather would have helped waterproofing it, but I rarely climb in the rain anyway.
Perfect for approach and warmup routes.
