Comments about Patagonia Capilene 2 Long-Sleeve Crew - Men's:
Disclaimer: I have not bought any new Capilene since about 6 years ago. Since then, I think Patagonia have added odor-control technology to this product, which is a good thing, as I have a tendency to stink when wearing synthetic fabrics.
I have been wearing mid-weight capilene since the early 1990's. I have worn it as a base layer in Chicago winters, and on fall packpacking trips, running workouts, and while cross-country skiing.
I like the way it feels against the skin--it is instantly warming, and not as clingy as some other polypro and polyester products. It gives that extra touch of comfort in cold weather. This morning, for example, it was -15 degrees Fahrenheit, and I was glad I was wearing it.
I sometimes wear it as a long-sleeve shirt at work. At my cubicle, temperatures will rise to 78 degrees or so. I slide the sleeves up and un-button some snaps (I have the snap-up tops), remaining reasonably comfortable.
I like the fit; it is not body-hugging, yet it wicks moisture quickly enough that I am not bothered much by sweatiness, even when running. If I vent my outer layers, the sweat will quickly wick and/or evaporate, leaving me comfortable.
My shirt size is 15 1/2, 33. In the medium size of Capilene, sleeve length and overall length are just right--perhaps a tad long in the sleeve, but I would rather have that, than to have it too short.
It wears like iron. I am currently still using Capilene tops that I bought in 1994.
I noticed minor pilling once or twice, but I easily removed it with a dry disposable razor.
In the past, I have gotten absolute satisfaction from the Patagonia products I have bought: shirts, balaclavas, a Synchilla jacket, a Puff Ball vest, and Capilene undies.

Comments about Patagonia Capilene 2 Long-Sleeve Crew - Men's:
I wore this during a trail marathon in early November. It kept me warm enough at the start of the race when it was 38-40F. Once I warmed up and the outside temp reached 60F, the shirt removed moisture and kept me from getting too hot. This shirt is very comfortable and is one of the best at temp control and moisture management. This is the perfect shirt (as a single layer)for high intensity activities during the Spring and Fall. It can be used as a great base layer under a shell or performance top during colder Winter weather. Be carful around Velcro...it will snag.

Comments about Patagonia Capilene 2 Long-Sleeve Crew - Men's:
I love Patagonias capiline line! This level 2 shirt is nice and lightweight and works great as a warm base layer. On a cold day you would probably need this and a shell and you would stay warm. While moving, this is all you need! Sheds moisture and breathes while keeping you warm. Very soft against the skin. Great substitute to wool.
