Comments about Patagonia Capilene 4 Long-Sleeve Zip-T - Men's:
I own the women's version and love it. Can't say enough good things about it. I learned about Capilene 4 from a friend who is a ski patroller. He keeps up on the best gear, and he lives in this stuff. He's pretty frugal with his money too so when he buys, he buys quality. It's soft enough to be a base layer, also works well as an insulating layer or top layer in dry weather. Good for a range of conditions (easy-going activities in mild temperatures to sweaty workouts in the cold) due to the breathability and the long front zipper. Not waterproof or windproof though, so you'll want a shell in rough conditions. It's long enough to keep out drafts, does not bind anywhere in any position, decently resistant to abrasion though I wouldn't take it bushwhacking and expect it to come out perfect.

Comments about Patagonia Capilene 4 Long-Sleeve Zip-T - Men's:
Well made, but made small this Patagonia zip T is relegated to first layer only. It's tight and athletically tailored so warm. It's my first choice for a warm under layer (under my Tshirt under my motorcycle jacket) on long trips, but around town it's restricting and uncomfortable.

Comments about Patagonia Capilene 4 Long-Sleeve Zip-T - Men's:
Not well crafted, sloppy loose stitching. Fit not as described in other comments. I'm slim-average build and most "form-fitting" size L base layers do fit my build, but this was way too large to be used as a base layer. It was actually a little too large even as a middle layer over a close-fitting base layer. The classification as expedition weight is dubious as well. Not as warm as typical expedition-weight gear I use, more appropriate to late-fall early-spring than true winter. Also, for what it's worth, something (possibly the Gladiotor natural odor control with its "benign" amino acids) elicited an unpleasant and irritating sensation in my nose and throat that persists the day after I wore the shirt for a sum total of one hour.

Patagonia capilene is great stuff. I own many different capilene garments and love them all.
