I own a couple of pairs of this style sock because I like the look, but the material on the heels and ball of your foot wears out too quickly. I am a big SmartWool fan, but this specific style does not live up to my quality expectations. Also pills easily and often.

As everyone else says, I LOVE these socks! SmartWool socks are really great, but this particular style is perfect. I like the medium cushioning to them better than the thinner, non-cushioned socks. I tried some other styles for variety and for a change of colors, and I didn't like them as well as Saturnsphere. I wish they had more pattern choices and colors because the wide stripe pattern might be the only drawback to these socks. They hold up beautifully, with no pilling, no smells, no loss of shape. I wear them everyday, all year long, and I've thrown away the rest of my socks - that's how good they are! Buy a few pairs and you won't regret it.

I love these socks. They are comfortable and don't itch. My feet don't get too hot in them if the temperature's warmer, but stay toasty in a cold room.
However, I will never buy them again because they wear through very quickly. I have bought several different kinds thinking maybe it was the style of sock, but it's true for every single one. I've done everything everyone's suggested - don't wash them every time you wear them, wash in machine and air dry, hand wash. Doesn't seem to matter, they all wear holes in them very quickly. They cost way too much for that to be acceptable.

I bought a pair several years ago with my dividend, and went back the next week and purchased two more pairs. The following year I bought seven more pairs -- I can tell them from the first year's batch because the red band is slightly wider.
I wear these socks in bed during winter and daily during three seasons.
After four years, the first year's batch is developing thin spots in the back, probably where my running shoes rub, but the other seven pair show no signs of wear.
I launder them in Woolite along with other delicates, in warm water, and hang them to dry. A few have gone into the dryer by mistake with no apparent ill effects (they look smaller but stretch to fit); however, I suspect over time the dryer would degrade the elasticity. To avoid linty toes, turn them inside out before laundering the first couple of times, and periodically thereafter.

Have fallen in love with SmartWool socks. I usually don't wear wool because my skin is so sensitive, but I get a pair of SmartWool socks as a gift and love them. Have ended up buying myself a few more pairs. Can wear them all day (and sometimes sleep in them) with no itching. Feet are toasty warm but not sweaty. Love, love, love!!

They are so so so comfy, super cute and feel great in shoes. Sounds weird, I know, but you'll know what I'm talking about.
