Comments about Pearl Izumi AmFIB Lobster Gloves - Adult:
These lobster mitts are great for riding in cold and dry climates. They are warm, comfortable, well-padded, and have a non-slip gripping surface. They even have soft terry thumbs for wiping your nose. The range of motion in these is unrestricted for two-finger braking. The bike I used these on had grip shifters, so I can't say how easy it would be to use rapid fire shifters.
The only problem that I've had with them is that they can get a bit uncomfortable if you ride for a long time and your palms sweat. Then all the inside padding/insulation soaks up the sweat like a sponge. But if you keep your body temp under control it shouldn't be a problem.
All in all, you really can't go wrong with these for biking in the bitter months.

Comments about Pearl Izumi AmFIB Lobster Gloves - Adult:
I've been mountain biking with an earlier model of these gloves for two winters now. They are by far the warmest gloves I have. Obviously, the lobster design is a bit restrictive, but much warmer than all-finger gloves. I suggest buying them a little large and investing in thin glove liners. This allows you to use the liners when you need the extra warmth.
I routinely ride in 20-25 degree weather with these gloves, in the early morning before the sun is up. Most of the riding I do is technical so the speed is low so I can't say how these gloves work at higher speeds.

Comments about Pearl Izumi AmFIB Lobster Gloves - Adult:
Nice warm gloves, despite PI's harebrained warmth rating of 9 (their Cyclone glove, hardly a warm glove, gets a 10, go figure). Remarkably windproof. I have used them in 26 degree Fahrenheit weather with little or no chill. But, as others have commented, perspiration builds up in these guys. My commute is 17 miles each way with many steep hills, so even in subfreezing weather, I sweat. So, they feel kind of clammy when I put them back on for my evening ride home(but they are still totally warm). Usually, the gloves have to be dried twice after washing, given the nature of the insulation and shell.
The lobster claw design has been hyped; I cannot downshift with my ring and pinky in these gloves. I end up moving both levers. Nevertheless, the split "claw" makes everything else easier and is brilliant. I love these things.

I've been through a ton of glove combinations this winter and I am glad that I have finnaly found the right pair. Very warm and comfortable. They have a non slip grip and are easy to brake and shift with Dura-ace levers. The only real downsides are they are bulky and my palms sweat some after hard efforts - but they still warrent a 5 out of 5.

I'm a petite woman and the sizes don't come small enough for me. I have 1/2" extra material at the ends of my fingers. Even through this, it's easy to shift and break.
I have poor circulation so keeping my hands and feet warm is difficult. These do great in 5'F windchill. I'm sure I'll be able to keep cycling all winter. Yea! The comment about hands getting too hot is true, continue wearing normal gloves till the last possible day.
I can't wait to take these skiing.

Comments about Pearl Izumi AmFIB Lobster Gloves - Adult:
My fingers (in Pearl Izumi Cyclone gloves) became so cold in the below-freezing temperatures that I just could not move my fingers anymore at the end of my 30-minute commute. Time for somehting else and quickly.
Since a colleague at work has had a pair of Lobster Claws for years, I bought one too. I would have preferred the 5-finger design but that model was not available at the store in Baileys Crossroads, Virginia.
If you want warm fingers and hands, the Lobster Claw is a good choice. Even on the couple of days when it was 10 degrees (windchill down to 0), these gloves kept my fingers from freezing. They felt a little cool after the coldest day but nothing that inhibited me in any way.
I can see how they might not be the most breathable gloves since they are a little damp when I take them off even though I have never worn them in temperatures over 25 degrees yet.
The Lobster Claw design does not interfere with shifting (I have an older style turning handlebar Shimano system), I have trouble ringing my bell with the bulky claw. Since there aren't as many people on the trail when I will be wearing these gloves, I guess I can live with it.
I would recommend these gloves for commuters or weekend riders who experience 40 degrees or below and certainly for anything down to 10 degrees.

I rode with these for the first time last weekend when the temperature here was a chilly high 40's-50's with some high humidity. This was a weekly road ride in Orange, County.
I think some of the response to these or any cold weather clothing is sensitivity to the cold.
That's why I find these gloves comfortable at temperatures up into the 50's. If my finger tips get too cold, I bring two fingers together (I didn't realize that a kinda membrane separated each of two fingers).
After warming up, and after the ambient temp gets warmer, I just change to a lighter 5 fingered glove or even the half-finger.
I've had no problem either braking or shifting the Dure-Ace shifters.
On the downside, these gloves required over 48 hours to dry - and that's in the sun in a desert.

I took these snow skiing and they were awesome!! Due to the oversize, I emplyed silk liner gloves and that addition really helped. My hands never got too hot and sweaty. I did have cold fingers at times during lift rides, but pressing my fingertips together alleviated the cold sting.
I landed in some big powder and even though the outside was damp, the inside never had a problem.

Not impressed with the glove. I ride in Chicago windters and my hands get cold quickly. I am not sure how they say it is a wold weather glove.

I have VERY cold hands and I was looking the the ultimate winter cycling glove. I live in DC area and early morning could be on the low 20's but these gloves didn't protect me enough. They're good until about freezing. They also have narrow temperature range: 38F may be too warm for them.
