First thing to get out of the way. Do not believe the machine wash claim unless you want an ill fitting sweater afterwards. Dry clean only!

This is an awesome medium weight sweater. I wear it daily come fall, and dont stop till late spring. It's not too bulky, and works well as a casual under layer. It is definitely Not wind proof, but what pure wool garment is.

I had one for a year, had it dry cleaned after 6 months and was good as new. Got lazy the next 6 months and tried to machine wash on hand wash setting then flat dry. Still ended up with shrinkage. I have long arms, so it went from perfect fit to above my wrists. Torso shrunk too. Rei swapped it out for me, and I haven't had any issues since. Dry clean every 4-6 months is no big deal. In total I've been wearing this sweater for 3 years, and it's still fine. Going to order a diff color tonight with my member disc.

If dry cleaning every now and then is not a prob, then you'll love this sweater. I've never really had any 100 % wool item hand wash too well anyway.

Two of my four Kuhl garments shrunk after carefully following washing instructions. I normally have better quality items dry cleaned but decided to wash this sweater. I was concerned and took extra precautions however, the body length shrunk enough to allow the pockets to hang below the bottom of the sweater. Lower back is too short now as well. Surprisingly the arm length is OK.

I'm 6'4" and got the XL. It fits fantastic!! The sleeves are long enough and articulated.

The merino is warm and the design is stylish and fit/finish is superb.....but overpriced.

The only reason for a 3* rating is that within a week of using it in the evenings on my sofa, no less (talk about gentle wear!), the sleeves started to pill something fierce!! There is *NO EXCUSE* that a garment this expensive should pill so quickly from such gentle use. I think they must use short hair fibers and/or cut corners somewhere else, b/c my thick Icebreaker (legendary brand) merino pieces **never** pill even after substantial use!

If you buy this sweater, it will ultimately look ratty (YMMV) from all the pills so be aware what you're getting yourself into.

It's a shame b/c it's warm, has style and fits tall guys like me.

amazing fabric! most breathable jacket i own. it easily out performs fleece in aerobic activities. i also have a wool pullover by the same brand, but it was discontinued for reasons unknown by me. this jacket is extremely versatile. ive worn it comfortably with just a t-shirt in temps up to the 60s and with a base layer and shell into the low 20s. it also works well as middle insulation under a heavier jacket.

I bought this sweater 3 years ago, and it remains my favorite to this day. Well constructed, super warm, and very versatile - I wear it as a jacket above freezing or a layer when the temp is in the teens. The [$]price tag seems steep, but in my opinion, it's worth every penny.

I love how warm and comfortable this sweater/jacket is. I only wish it had been sized a little smaller. I ordered a men's small, and unless it's going on top of 4 layers, it could probably fit somebody who usually wears a medium or large. In that respect, it's a little more like a blanket than a jacket.

Nice jacket/sweater. The fabric is soft, pure wool, warm. Not really heavyweight, not really lightweight. Does not itch. Very good casual wear; it seems a little too nice to take out on the trail.
