Comments about Osprey Aura 50 Pack - Women's:
This is an awesome pack, I can't believe there aren't more aren't like this. As a small girl under 50kg it's difficult to find packs that are lightweight. I love that it's so light but strong, and it's also surprisingly comfortable considering how rigid it appears.
Osprey have designed a great pack but for a few things: Firstly, it doesn't stand upright while waiting for buses, or while having lunch on a particularly muddy trek.. thus you have to lie it down gently like a small child to stop it tipping over at random. Secondly the front elastic pocket is a great idea, but in pale grey it is easily marked and doesn't clean very well.
I have also had a lot of trouble travelling through airports with it since it's in the grey area of carry-on baggage limits. The shape and design is not ideal for baggage-handlers either, who often insist on wrapping it or loading it separately to regular baggage.
All that said, it's a great pack for the outdoors. I'd certainly recommend it to friends.

Comments about Osprey Aura 50 Pack - Women's:
I adored this bag but dreaded having to load and unload it. It is highly adjustable and i felt like it was doing a lot of the work for me on some of the hardest hikes I have gone on. It was extremely comfortable and the mesh on the back helped keep me cool in the hottest heat.
I used it for 3 weeks backpacking through south america and it held up perfectly, the only thing that broke was the key holder in the top pocket.
I'd recommend it to someone with excellent packing ability or a lot of patience.

Comments about Osprey Aura 50 Pack - Women's:
I've tried what I consider to be several different packs and have been disappointed with them all. This pack is the exception! First off, Osprey makes great gear AND they stand behind it with excellent customer service [...] The pack is extremely lightweight, has two hydration options, and the pockets/compartments are flexible in that you can just as easily use this for mountain biking camping and hiking. The 3D contoured mesh back panel is the best thing ever invented - totally keeps you cool while providing excellent comfort!! Additionally, the mesh pockets on the hip belt are a great added bonus! VERY functional and extremely comfortable and EASY to use!! Highly recommended!

Comments about Osprey Aura 50 Pack - Women's:
I love this pack! Having used larger Gregory (Forester) and Arc'teryx (Bora 80) packs in the past, I find this small pack to be infinitely more comfortable and half the weight. I have used it for up to a week at a time, with loads up to 35 pounds, no problem. My gear (w/out food) is pretty light and I carry very little, so for those who like a few more luxuries, the larger capacity might be better for overnight trips. For lightweight backpacking in the summer, however, I can't imagine a better pack. I have squeezed a bear cannister and/or an ursack w/liner in the bottom, but it does compromise the comfort of the pack. The hard cannister puts pressure on my low back and I usually put in closer to the top or opt for the ursack.
The Aura 50 does have 2 side pockets that I have fit Nalgene bottles into, in addition to the hydration capability. I do find it difficult to use the hydration system inside the pack when it is full, and usually strap it to the side or under the lid.
The top loading design is more difficult to pack, especially due to the curve created by the stays. But I am willing to compromise this for the weight savings and balance the pack provides. The outside pockets and lid hold everything you might need during the day and more. I easily keep rain gear, lunch, maps, first aid, etc in those pockets.
This is truly the most comfortable pack I have ever worn- the waist straps distribute weight evenly and the whole thing molds to the contours of your body.
This summer I saw many thru hikers carrying this pack in the Sierras.

Comments about Osprey Aura 50 Pack - Women's:
This is a really great pack. I used it to carry about 18 pounds of gear and clothing for a six week hike through Spain this summer and it held up beautifully. Its lightweight, has comfortable straps that stayed comfortable throughout 4 to 8 hour days of hiking for me. The Aura has ample convenient pockets with waterproof zippers. I think the best feature, especially for warm weather, is the airspeed cooling system that lets air flow through a mesh covering that sits against your back to avoid a whole back covered with sweat. The straps sit comfortably and have a great cooling system too.
The only cons about this pack- the hip strap pockets were a little tough to open and were partially covered by another strap when worn.
Also the curve of the cooling system leaves less room in the large chamber of pack. This was actually great for me because I was trying to pack light, but if you want a little more room maybe the Aura 65 would be a better way to go.
Overall, this was an outstanding pack for me and I would highly recommend it.

Comments about Osprey Aura 50 Pack - Women's:
My wife loves this pack. The fit for her was perfect. The has a slightly longer torso (i.e. wider shoulders) mixed in with shorter legs, and the large fit her perfectly. Be sure to try on before you buy, but my hunch is most women should be able to find a near perfect fitting between the choices of small, med, and large.
Going solo, this pack is a great weekender. With a group, you should be able to get up to a week with it (assuming you are reasonably minimalistic). We plan on taking it with us to Europe here in the future.
Only real negative I can find is the water bottle holders don't really do well with a 32oz Nalgene bottle when the bag is full capacity. If you use the slender 20oz bicycle-type bottles that are more narrow, you should be ok. I would have also liked to see a sleeping back pouch in the bottom, but I guess 50L is right on that border between having it and not having it. But these are minor issues, and not ones that would keep me or the wife from giving it 5 stars.
Highly recommended!!!

Comments about Osprey Aura 50 Pack - Women's:
I just bought this pack but it has the best fit i've found so far. It also has an impressive variance in the sizes it can be. With everything tighten down it can be a slightly large day pack. When full out it can be a check size possible week long trip bag. The important thing about looking for a bag that you can carry on is to measure. This packs measures 22inchs when it is not all the way full, so i would suggest measuring in the store and before you leave for each trip. This bag can definitely meet the specs for carrying on but can't be full.

Comments about Osprey Aura 50 Pack - Women's:
I got this pack last year, and its been great. Doesn't hold a huge amount, but enough for a weekend of backpacking (Yes, I'm tempted to get the 65 as well, that is how much I like this pack. And the 35 is on my upcoming Christmas list for dayhiking). The concave back is great for comfort (no more sweaty back!), but the idea of a water reservoir in that space is unintuitive. Also, a small bear can is a tight fit and alters packing distribution. It handles weight REALLy well, as I am probably hitting 35-40lbs without any issues.

Comments about Osprey Aura 50 Pack - Women's:
I have short waist and the small size fit me perfectly. The big problem with this pack was the lack of padding in the belt. After 2 hours of hiking with a full pack, I had severe pain on my hips.

Comments about Osprey Aura 50 Pack - Women's:
I really liked the design of this pack. It had the features that were important to me; hydration options for the bladder with visiblity to check the water levels; hip pockets for snacks, lip balm, instead of stuffing my pants pockets. However, it just didn't fit me well. I found myself constantly trying to adjust the waist belt and shoulder harness to no avail. Tried rearranging the placement of my gear within the pack and still couldn't get a good, comfortable fit. After a three-day hike and a four-day hike with much frustation, I've returned it and decided to try a different model, still an Osprey, but perhaps I'll have more success with a different model. Again, really loved the features. I just couldn't make it work for me.
